Key Features

Solid Beech Strength Made from solid beech hardwood, these cut-to-length tenons give you a strong floating tenon joint for furniture, cabinet work, and other joinery where long-term stability matters. Cut To Length Each 10 mm x 750 mm blank lets you size the tenon to the exact joint instead of working around fixed lengths. That gives you more flexibility for custom doors, tables, rails, and casework. DOMINO Alignment The flat, elongated Festool DOMINO tenon profile resists rotation and helps keep parts aligned during glue-up, which is exactly what you want in mortise and tenon joinery.

Overview

Festool 498687 Domino Beech Tenon Stock, 3/8" (10 mm), 28-Pack is a pack of extra-long solid beech DOMINO tenon blanks made for custom cut-to-length joinery. This is a floating tenon stock accessory designed for mortise and tenon joinery with Festool DOMINO joiners. Model Number: 498687. If you are building furniture, doors, frames, or cabinet parts and need longer or custom-sized loose tenons, this is the stock that lets you make them without stepping outside the Festool DOMINO system.

The big advantage here is flexibility. Instead of working with fixed-length tenons, you get 28 pieces of 3/8" (10 mm) stock in 30" (750 mm) lengths, which works out to 29-1/2 inches per piece. That gives you room to cut each floating tenon to the exact length your joint calls for. For anyone doing one-off work, oversized assemblies, or production work with repeat custom dimensions, that saves time and keeps the joint matched to the workpiece instead of forcing the workpiece to match the tenon.

Festool makes these from all-natural solid beech hardwood, and that matters. Beech is a proven joinery material because it is dense, stable, and strong enough for structural wood joints when paired with the right fit and glue. In practical terms, that means better holding power than lighter wood stock and a more predictable joint in furniture, millwork, and case construction. The stock also carries the familiar DOMINO profile, so it acts like a true floating tenon rather than just a shaped stick of wood.

The shape is a big part of why DOMINO joinery works so well. The flat, elongated form helps prevent the tenon from rotating in the mortise, which keeps parts aligned during assembly. That is useful on both edge gluing and face gluing where even small movement can throw off reveal lines, rail alignment, or panel fit. Festool also forms glue pockets into the stock, which helps distribute adhesive and gives excess glue somewhere to go instead of hydraulically pushing the joint apart.

On the bench, this tenon stock is about jobsite efficiency as much as joint strength. You cut the blank to the length you need, dry fit, and move on. Festool specifically notes that the tenon should be cut 1/16" to 1/8" (2 to 3 mm) shorter than the mortise depth to leave space for glue. That small detail matters because it helps the joint seat fully and keeps assembly cleaner when you are gluing up multiple parts at once.

Compatibility is straightforward. This stock is suitable for the Festool DF 500 and DF 700 DOMINO joiners. If you already work in the Festool DOMINO platform and need 10 mm floating tenon material for custom joinery, this is the right stock to keep on hand. It is especially useful for woodworkers, cabinetmakers, finish carpenters, and furniture builders who want the speed of the DOMINO system with more control over final tenon length.

Bottom line: this is not a general wood strip and it is not a substitute for random dowel stock. It is purpose-made Festool DOMINO beech tenon stock for serious joinery work. If your projects include mortise and tenon joints in hardwood or softwood assemblies and you want clean alignment, strong glue surfaces, and custom sizing, this accessory earns its spot in the shop fast.

Custom Length Joinery Without Guesswork

When standard loose tenon lengths do not match the project, this stock gives you control. You cut each piece to suit the exact mortise and the exact part, which is a better way to handle custom furniture, wide rails, and non-standard assemblies.

• Each blank measures 10 mm x 30" (750 mm)
• Sold as a 28-pack of extra-long tenon stock

Built For Strong Floating Tenon Joints

Festool uses solid beech hardwood here for a reason. It gives the floating tenon the strength and stability you want in furniture and cabinet joints where glue surface, fit, and long-term durability all matter.

• Made from solid beech hardwood
• Designed to serve as a true floating tenon in mortise and tenon applications

Better Alignment During Glue-Up

The flat, elongated DOMINO profile helps keep the joint from twisting when you assemble it. That makes layout easier to trust and helps parts stay where you put them when clamps go on.

• Flat profile helps resist rotation in the mortise
• Useful for both edge gluing and face gluing applications

Glue Pockets That Help The Joint Seat Properly

The embossed surface is not there for looks. It creates glue pockets that help spread adhesive and leave room for squeeze-out, which makes assembly smoother and helps avoid a joint that bottoms out on excess glue.

• Embossed with glue pockets for adhesive distribution
• Festool recommends cutting tenons 1/16" to 1/8" (2 to 3 mm) shorter than mortise depth

Tool Nut's Take

Tool Nut's Take

Festool 498687 Domino Beech Tenon Stock, 3/8" (10 mm), 28-Pack is the smart buy for custom DOMINO joinery

If you already use a Festool DOMINO joiner and want control over tenon length, this stock makes a lot more sense than trying to force a standard size into every joint.

• Who it's for: Woodworkers, cabinetmakers, and finish carpenters using the DF 500 or DF 700 for furniture, casework, doors, and frame assemblies.
• Why it stands out: You get solid beech strength, the proper DOMINO profile, and 30" (750 mm) blanks that let you cut the exact floating tenon length the job needs.
• Worth knowing: This is stock material, not pre-cut ready-to-use tenons. You will need to cut each piece to length, and leaving a small glue pocket is part of getting the joint right.
