Overview

Festool 494940 DOMINO Beech Tenons 8 x 22 x 40 mm 130-Pack is a beech floating tenon set for Festool DOMINO joiners. This is a floating tenon set designed for mortise and tenon joinery. Model Number 494940. If you want fast, repeatable alignment and strong joints in wood without cutting traditional integral tenons, this is the accessory that makes the DOMINO system work the way it should.

These tenons are made from solid natural beech hardwood, which matters because the joint relies on the tenon staying stable as glue cures and the assembly is clamped. Festool uses a dense beech body that is suitable for both plywood and solid wood applications, so you can move from casework to furniture parts without changing your approach. For cabinetmaking, face frames, casing, and furniture assembly, that kind of consistency saves time and helps keep joints tight.

The shape is the real story here. Unlike round dowels, the flat elongated DOMINO profile resists rotation in the mortise. That means better alignment during edge gluing and face gluing, especially when you are trying to keep parts flush across a panel, frame, or rail-and-stile assembly. Less shifting during clamp-up means less cleanup later and fewer surprises when glue sets.

Festool also builds in practical glue management. Each tenon has embossed glue pockets and side grooves that help spread adhesive and give it space to go instead of hydraulically pushing the joint apart. The tenon is approximately 1/16" (2 mm) shorter than its nominal length, which leaves room in the mortise for glue. That is a small detail, but it is exactly the kind of thing that makes assembly easier and keeps joints from bottoming out before the shoulders close.

Size matters with DOMINO accessories, and this pack is the 8 mm x 7/8" x 1-9/16" (22 x 40 mm) format. That makes it a good fit when you need more holding power than smaller tenons but do not need to jump to oversized loose tenons for heavy structural work. The 130-count pack is a practical quantity for regular shop use, whether you are batching cabinet parts or building multiple frames in one run.

Compatibility is straightforward. These beech tenons are suitable for Festool DF 500 and DF 700 DOMINO joiners, so they slot into the larger Festool joining system instead of being a one-off accessory. If you already own a DOMINO machine, using the correct factory tenon size helps keep fit and glue-up predictable.

Who should buy these? Woodworkers, cabinet installers, trim carpenters, furniture builders, and serious DIY users who want strong, repeatable mortise and tenon joinery without the time hit of cutting traditional joinery by hand. If you use the DOMINO platform for production-style accuracy and faster assemblies, this pack is a bread-and-butter consumable you will actually go through.

Fast Joinery Without Sloppy Alignment

These tenons are built to speed up glue-ups while keeping parts lined up. That is the whole point of a good floating tenon system: less layout drama, less shifting under clamps, and a cleaner finished joint.

• Flat elongated shape helps prevent rotation in the mortise
• Works well for furniture, cabinetmaking, casing, and frame work

Built to Hold Glue Where It Helps

Glue pockets and side grooves are not filler features. They help distribute glue through the joint and leave room so the tenon seats properly instead of pushing the workpieces apart.

• Embossed glue pockets improve adhesive distribution
• Approximately 1/16" (2 mm) shorter than nominal length to leave space for glue in the mortise

Made for Real Woodworking Workflows

The 8 mm x 7/8" x 1-9/16" (22 x 40 mm) size hits a useful middle ground for many shop jobs. It is substantial enough for strong joinery in cabinets and furniture parts, while still being easy to work into repeated production cuts.

• Solid beech hardwood offers strength and stability
• Suitable for plywood and solid wood applications
