Key Features

Built for Heavy MetalThe brushless motor delivers up to 1,400 MWO, so this saw is set up for serious metal cutting instead of light trim work. That means faster progress in steel stud and decking applications where bogging down costs time. Deeper 90 CutsWith a 2-5/8 inch depth of cut and 7-1/4 inch blade acceptance, the DEWALT metal cutting circular saw handles a wider range of material sizes in one tool. Less switching tools means less downtime on the job. Cleaner, Safer ControlAn integrated chip collector helps keep the work area cleaner, while the electronic brake stops the blade in less than 1 second after trigger release. That adds up to better visibility and more control between cuts.

Overview

The DEWALT 20V MAX XR 7-1/4 Inch Metal Cutting Circular Saw Kit, Model DCS383H1, is a cordless metal cutting saw built for pros who need cordless mobility without giving up real cutting performance. This is a metal cutting circular saw designed for cutting steel studs, corrugated decking, and other jobsite metal materials. If you work in framing, mechanical trades, commercial build-outs, or general construction, this kit is aimed right at that kind of daily use.

What matters most here is power and usable cutting capacity. DEWALT rates this as its most powerful 20V MAX metal cutting circular saw, with a brushless motor delivering up to 1,400 MWO. On the job, that translates to better pace through tough material and less hesitation when the cut gets demanding. DEWALT also states it can cut up to 214 20-gauge steel studs per charge and up to 105 feet of corrugated decking per charge when used with the included DCBP520 battery and DWAM71448 blade. That gives you a better sense of what this saw is built to do in real production work, not just in a spec sheet.

The blade and depth setup are a big part of why this saw stands out. It accepts a 7-1/4 inch metal cutting circular saw blade and offers a 2-5/8 inch depth of cut. DEWALT also calls out a 43% greater depth of cut at 90 degrees than the earlier DCS373 metal cutting circular saw. In plain terms, that gives you more room to handle thicker material and a wider range of cuts with one cordless platform, which is exactly what you want when you are moving around a site and do not want to drag multiple dedicated saws with you.

Jobsite practicality is better thought out than on a lot of cordless saws in this class. The integrated chip collector helps contain metal chips instead of letting them scatter everywhere around the cut line and work area. That makes cleanup easier and helps keep the workspace more manageable, especially when you are working indoors or in occupied commercial spaces. The electronic brake is another feature that matters every single cut, because it stops the blade in less than 1 second after you let off the trigger. That improves control when setting the saw down and when moving between repetitive cuts.

This saw also brings connectivity into the mix with TOOL CONNECT+ technology. With integrated compatibility for the DEWALT Site Manager app, users can access information tied to asset management, tool location, utilization, and safety. For crews managing multiple tools across trucks, floors, or jobsites, that is more than a tech gimmick. It helps reduce wasted time tracking gear and gives supervisors a clearer picture of where tools are and how they are being used.

Because this is a kit, you are not starting from scratch. The package includes the DCS383 saw, a DWAM71448 48-tooth 7-1/4 inch metal cutting circular saw blade, blade change wrench, DCBP520 20V MAX XR POWERSTACK 5Ah battery, and DCB1106 charger. That matters for buyers who need a ready-to-work setup right out of the box instead of a bare tool that still needs power and cutting accessories added before it earns its keep.

As part of the DEWALT 20V MAX battery platform, this saw fits into a broader cordless system many contractors are already using. If you are already invested in 20V MAX tools, this kit drops into that lineup cleanly. If you are building out a metal cutting setup from scratch, the included POWERSTACK battery gives you a strong starting point with one of DEWALT's higher-performing battery options in the 20V MAX range.

Who should buy it? This is a strong fit for steel stud framers, commercial contractors, HVAC installers, electricians, and remodelers who routinely cut light-gauge metal and want a cordless circular saw instead of relying on slower or messier methods. It is also a smart buy for anyone who values clean, repeatable metal cutting and wants a saw that is clearly built around production work, not occasional use. If your day involves a lot of metal framing or decking cuts, this is the kind of tool that earns its place fast.
