Key Features

Single-Pass Timber CutsThis Makita GSH06T1 circular saw kit is built for big stock. It cuts 6x material at 90 degrees and 4x material at 45 degrees in one pass, which means fewer flips, fewer setups, and faster work on heavy wood. Less Battery DowntimeWith up to 75 cuts per charge in 6x12 lumber using the included 5.0Ah battery, this cordless circular saw is made for high-demand cutting without dragging a cord across the site. AWS Dust Control ReadyAWS capability lets the saw communicate wirelessly with a compatible dust extractor when the optional transmitter is installed. That helps keep cleanup tighter and cuts down on extractor noise when the saw is not running.

Overview

The Makita GSH06T1 40V max XGT Brushless Cordless 16-5/16" Circular Saw Kit, AWS Capable (5.0Ah) is a large-format cordless circular saw built for heavy timber cutting where a standard framing saw just is not enough. This is a circular saw designed for cutting large timber, pressure treated lumber, and wood logs. Model Number GSH06T1. If you need cordless freedom but still want serious blade size and deep-cut capacity, this is the Makita setup aimed at that job.

The big reason this saw matters is cutting capacity. With a 16-5/16 inch blade, it can cut 6x material at 90 degrees and 4x material at 45 degrees in a single pass. That is a real time saver for timber framing, large beam work, and repetitive cuts in thick stock because you are not stopping to rotate the material and finish from the other side. Makita also rates the saw for up to 75 cuts per charge in 6x12 lumber on a single 5.0Ah battery, which gives this cordless platform real jobsite usefulness instead of just novelty.

The Makita GSH06T1 circular saw kit runs on the 40V max XGT platform and uses a brushless motor for high-demand work. Makita positions it as up to 30% faster cutting than its comparable corded model, and the design backs that up with job-focused features like soft start for smoother launch, an electric brake for quicker blade stop, and a blade stabilizer for more controlled blade rotation. The no-load speed is rated at 2,100 RPM, which is tuned around large-diameter blade performance and deep wood cutting rather than light trim work.

From a build standpoint, Makita went with a die-cast aluminum design to keep a saw of this size manageable. Net tool weight is 24.3 pounds, which is still a substantial saw, but notably lighter than the referenced corded version. That matters when you are moving from cut to cut or working with large stock that already takes effort to position. The bevel range runs from 0 to 45 degrees with positive stops at 15 degrees, 30 degrees, and 45 degrees, so angle changes are straightforward when the work calls for repeated bevel cuts.

For harsh jobsite conditions, the saw uses Makita Extreme Protection Technology, which is designed to route dust and water away from critical internal components. On a tool meant for outdoor timber work and rough framing environments, that is more than a nice extra. It is part of what keeps a high-dollar cordless saw working when the conditions are not clean. The saw is also AWS capable, so with the separate Auto-Start Wireless Transmitter installed, it can pair with a compatible Makita dust extractor for wireless on and off operation over Bluetooth.

The included kit makes this a ready-to-run package instead of a bare tool. You get one 40V max XGT 5.0Ah battery, a rapid charger, a 16-5/16 inch 35-tooth circular saw blade, dust extracting attachment, saw storage holder, hex wrench, and battery cover. For buyers already in the XGT system, that keeps battery compatibility simple. For buyers stepping into XGT for the first time, this kit gives you the core pieces needed to put the saw to work right away.

Who is this saw for? Contractors and serious users cutting oversized wood members, timber framing components, large pressure treated stock, and similar heavy material. It is overkill for everyday sheet goods and standard two-by work, and that is the point. If your work regularly calls for deep single-pass cuts and you want to leave the extension cord behind, this Makita circular saw kit makes a strong case.

Built for Deep One-Pass Cuts

This is the kind of saw you buy when standard blade size is holding you back. The oversized blade and deep cut capacity are what let the Makita GSH06T1 handle thick framing members and timber stock in a single pass.

• 16-5/16 inch blade diameter for large-capacity wood cutting
• Cuts up to 6-5/16 inches at 90 degrees and 4-1/4 inches at 45 degrees
• 1 inch arbor supports the included large-format saw blade

Control Matters on a Saw This Size

Large saws can get awkward fast if the controls are not sorted out. Makita adds the features that make this one easier to handle accurately, especially when you are making repeated cuts in thick stock.

• Soft start reduces startup reaction for smoother, more accurate cut entry
• Electric brake helps stop the blade quickly between cuts
• 0 to 45 degree bevel range with positive stops at 15, 30, and 45 degrees
