Key Features

Dual Lock Control The dual lock mechanism gives you two ways to manage the blade: auto lock when you pull it out, plus a manual lock button when you want the tape held firmly in place. That makes one-handed measuring easier and keeps the blade from snapping back when you are marking material. 25-Foot Reach This Tajima tape measure gives you a 25 ft. x 1 in. blade size with 8.2 ft. of standout. That is a useful range for framing, interior layout, punch work, and general measuring without fighting blade collapse every few feet. Read It Fast The dual-sided blade and strong end hook help you get measurements from more angles and keep the tape engaged at the edge. Less repositioning means faster layout work and fewer small mistakes.

Overview

The Tajima SS-25BW Sigma Stop Standard Scale 25-ft. Tape Measure is a 25-foot measuring tape built for jobsite layout, daily measuring, and repeat marking work. This is a tape measure designed for general construction and layout tasks. Model Number SS-25BW. If you want a tape that gives you more control during pull-out and retraction, this one is built around that idea.

The big selling point here is Tajima's Dual Lock Mechanism. When you pull the blade out, the auto lock function stops the tape automatically. When you need it held more firmly, the retract button works to retract and stop the tape as needed, and the lock button can hold the blade in place. In practical use, that means less fumbling when you are measuring solo, marking studs, checking cut lengths, or moving from one dimension to the next.

The blade size is 25 ft. x 1 in. and the standout is rated at 8.2 ft. That gives this tape measure enough reach for common framing, trim, cabinet, and remodeling work without getting overly bulky. The 1-inch blade width helps support the standout, so you can extend farther before the blade folds over, which matters when you are working alone or measuring across open spans.

Tajima also calls out a Strong Tape, Strong Hook, and Dual Sided Blade. Those are not throwaway features on a measuring tape. A strong blade helps it stay usable longer under real jobsite handling, while a strong hook matters when you are grabbing edges, pulling dimensions off lumber, or working around material that is not perfectly square. The dual-sided blade makes it easier to read measurements in more positions, especially when overhead or inside measurements force you to view the blade from a different angle.

At 1.08 lbs, the Tajima SS-25BW Sigma Stop Standard Scale 25-ft. Tape Measure has enough substance to feel like a serious jobsite tool without being excessive on the belt. The back clip adds carry convenience, and the overall design is clearly aimed at tradespeople who use a tape all day, not somebody who only pulls one out twice a month.

This tape measure is made in Japan, and that will matter to buyers who pay attention to fit, finish, and long-term consistency in hand tools and layout tools. It is a good fit for carpenters, remodelers, general contractors, punch-list crews, and serious DIY users who want better blade control than a basic spring-return tape usually gives you.

Better Control During Every Pull

The lock setup is what separates this tape from a basic retract-only model. Auto lock helps the blade stay where you pull it, and the manual lock gives you a more secure hold when you need both the measurement and the mark to stay put.

• Dual Lock Mechanism combines auto stop behavior with a firm manual lock
• Retract button lets you retract and stop the tape as needed instead of fighting full-speed return

Reach Farther Without Blade Foldover

An 8.2 ft. standout is a real-world spec that matters when you measure alone. It helps when you are catching material edges, checking rough openings, or pulling dimensions across sheet goods and framing members.

• 25 ft. x 1 in. tape size balances reach and carry comfort
• 8.2 ft. standout gives better unsupported extension for solo measuring

Designed for Fast, Repeat Layout

Small details make a tape measure faster to live with all day. The dual-sided blade improves readability from more positions, and the belt clip keeps it handy when you are moving through a job instead of working from one stationary bench.

• Dual-sided blade helps with overhead, vertical, and awkward-angle reading
• Belt clip supports daily carry for framing, trim, and punch work
