7,500 SPM Cutting Speed A 0.24-in. stroke at 7,500 strokes per minute keeps the SP-7620 cutting through steel, FRP, rubber, and resin without bogging down. Compact 6.1-in. Body A shortened housing gets the blade into engine bays, wheel wells, and tight panel gaps where a full-length air saw won't fit. Gear-Driven, Reduced Vibration The gear-driven air motor smooths the stroke compared to a straight vane-drive system, cutting hand fatigue on longer jobs.

Overview

The SP Air SP-7620 is a pneumatic reciprocating saw a recipro saw designed for cutting steel, FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic), rubber, and resin in tight, hard-to-reach spots where a full-size air saw can't fit. SP Air built this "short" gear-type version specifically to trim the body length down without cutting into stroke speed.

The saw runs a 0.24-in. stroke at 7,500 strokes per minute, enough for clean, controlled cuts through bumper material, sheet metal, and rubber components. A safety lever prevents accidental triggering, a blade guide keeps the blade tracking straight under load, and a built-in air regulator lets you dial the tool's power at the saw itself instead of adjusting your whole air line.

What separates the SP-7620 from a basic recipro saw is the gear-driven system: instead of running the blade straight off the air motor's vane action, a gear-reduction stage smooths the stroke, which SP Air states reduces vibration and delivers a more comfortable cut. That matters most on repetitive work bumper removal, trim cutting, exhaust hanger work where a harsh, vibration-heavy saw wears out a hand fast.

On the job, the shortened 6.1-in. length is the real selling point: it's built for the cuts a standard-length air saw can't reach behind a bumper cover, inside a wheel well, tight against a frame rail without asking you to switch down to a rotary tool that cuts slower and rougher.

This is a tool for auto body techs, collision repair shops, and fabricators who regularly cut steel, rubber, and resin in cramped clearance and want a compact air saw that doesn't sacrifice cutting speed to get there.

Built Short for Tight Clearance

At 6.1 in. overall, the SP-7620's body is shortened specifically to fit where a standard-length reciprocating air saw can't reach.

• Overall length of 6.1 in., built for engine bays and wheel wells
• 0.24-in. stroke at 7,500 SPM keeps cutting speed high despite the smaller body
• Blade guide keeps the blade tracking straight in confined spaces

Gear-Driven Motor Cuts the Vibration

A gear-reduction stage between the air motor and the blade smooths out the stroke, which SP Air states cuts vibration compared to a direct vane-drive saw.

• Safety lever guards against accidental triggering
• Built-in air regulator lets you dial power at the tool
• Durable housing built for repetitive shop use

See the Size Difference

The "short" in Short Recipro Saw is literal SP Air positions the SP-7620 as the compact companion to its standard-length recipro saw models.

• Purpose-built for the cuts a longer-body air saw can't make
• Same 7,500 SPM stroke speed as SP Air's standard recipro saws
• A better fit for bumper, trim, and undercar work than a full-length saw

Pro Tip

Back off the built-in air regulator when you're cutting rubber or resin full air pressure on softer bumper and trim material can grab and tear instead of shearing clean. Dial it down for a cleaner edge, then bring it back up for steel.

Warranty & Support

SP Air backs the SP-7620 with a one (1) year limited warranty against manufacturing defects from date of purchase. Warranty service is handled through SP Air's authorized U.S. repair center, Power Tool Repair (Tallmadge, OH); proof of purchase is required.

The Recipro Saw That Fits Where the Big One Won't

The SP Air SP-7620 shortens the body without slowing the stroke, giving you a reciprocating saw that reaches into spots a standard-length air saw can't.

• Who it's for: Auto body techs and fabricators cutting steel, rubber, and resin in cramped engine bays, wheel wells, and panel gaps.
• Why it stands out: A gear-driven motor for smoother, lower-vibration cutting inside a 6.1-in. body most compact recipro saws can't match.
• Worth knowing: SP Air doesn't publish an air pressure (PSI) spec for this model on its own site, and reseller weight listings disagree with SP Air's own 1.30 lb spec confirm both before finalizing the listing.

Common Questions

• How fast does the SP-7620 cut? 7,500 strokes per minute with a 0.24-in. stroke, per SP Air's spec sheet.
• What materials can it cut? Steel, FRP, rubber, and resin SP Air specifically lists bumpers as a typical target material.
• How is the SP-7620 different from a standard-length SP Air recipro saw? It's a shortened, gear-type version built for tighter clearance 6.1 in. overall while keeping the same 7,500 SPM stroke speed as SP Air's longer models.
• Does the gear-driven design actually cut vibration? SP Air states the gear-driven system reduces vibration versus a direct vane-drive saw for a smoother, more comfortable cut.
