Key Features

100W USB-C Power The built-in 100W USB-C PD 3.0 port does more than charge the battery. It also lets the battery power phones, tablets, and other USB-C devices, which gives you one pack that works on the tool and off it. Two-Way Charging You can charge the battery through its USB-C port or use that same port to charge your device. That cuts down on extra chargers and makes this battery pack easier to keep ready between jobs. Compact 20V Battery This SKIL battery pack is 20 percent more compact than SKIL batteries with a USB-A port. Less bulk means less fatigue on lighter tools and a cleaner fit in tight storage spots.

Overview

The SKIL 20V 2.0Ah USB Type-C Battery BY5100B-00 is a compact lithium-ion battery pack built for the SKIL PWR CORE 20 platform. This is a cordless tool battery designed for powering SKIL 20V tools and for USB-C charging duties on and off the job. Model Number BY5100B-00. If you want a spare battery that does more than just sit on a charger, this one stands out because it can run your tool, recharge through USB-C, and power personal devices from the same port.

The big selling point here is the integrated 100W USB-C PD 3.0 port. That matters because this battery is not locked into one role. You can charge the battery itself through USB-C, or use the battery to charge a phone, tablet, or other compatible device. For contractors, maintenance techs, and homeowners, that means fewer dedicated chargers in the truck or garage and one more way to keep essential devices working when an outlet is not close by.

At 20V with a 2.0Ah / 40Wh capacity, this pack is sized for lighter-duty runtime needs, quick swaps, and reduced tool weight. It is a good fit when you want to keep a drill, driver, light, inflator, or trim tool nimble instead of hanging a larger battery off the base. SKIL also calls out that this version is 20 percent more compact than its batteries with a USB-A port, which is a practical gain when you are working overhead, reaching into cabinets, or carrying a few packs in a tool bag.

SKIL built in a battery level indicator, so you can check charge status before climbing a ladder, heading outside, or starting the next task. There is also a pulsing LED indicator for USB-C charging and discharging status, which gives you a quick visual check that the port is active. Small details like that save time because you are not guessing whether the pack is actually charging a device or taking a charge.

For battery life and durability, this pack uses SKIL's PWR CORE 20 lithium battery design with cooling technology. SKIL describes it as a temperature management system that surrounds each cell with cooling material to help the battery run cooler. In real use, cooler battery operation matters because heat is one of the things that shortens runtime consistency and long-term battery life. If you rotate batteries often or work through repeated charge cycles, that kind of management is worth paying attention to.

Compatibility is straightforward, which is exactly what you want from a platform battery. The SKIL 20V 2.0Ah USB Type-C Battery BY5100B-00 pairs with any SKIL 20V tool in the PWR CORE 20 lineup. That makes it a practical add-on battery for anyone already using SKIL cordless tools and a smart starting point if USB-C charging convenience is what is pulling you into the platform.

Who should buy it? This battery makes the most sense for SKIL PWR CORE 20 users who want a compact spare pack, lighter tool balance, and the flexibility to charge with USB-C instead of relying only on a standard tool charger. It is also a solid pick for homeowners, service techs, and jobsite users who like the idea of a battery pack that can double as a portable power source for electronics. If your main need is maximum runtime for high-draw tools, you would step up in amp hours. If your priority is compact size, system compatibility, and USB-C convenience, this is the one that earns its spot.

Pro Tip

If you are buying this battery for the USB-C charging feature, pair it with a proper USB-C PD charger and cable so you actually get the fast-charge benefit the port is built for. A basic low-output USB cable will still work in some cases, but it will not make the most of the two-way rapid charging setup.
