Overview

The Milwaukee 2821-20 M18 FUEL SAWZALL Recip Saw is a cordless reciprocating saw built for fast demolition and rough cutting in demanding jobsite conditions. This is a reciprocating saw designed for demolition, remodeling, pipe cutting, metal cutting, and general construction work. Model Number 2821-20. If you want a tool-only Milwaukee saw that lives on the M18 platform and is meant to keep moving through tough material instead of babying the trigger, this is that saw.

What makes this one matter is the combination of a 1-1/4 inch stroke length and 3,000 strokes per minute. Those numbers are what turn into quicker cuts and faster material removal on the job. When you are tearing through framing, cutting out old pipe, trimming plastic, or working through mixed demo material, a long stroke helps the blade clear chips and keep momentum. That means less time leaning on the saw waiting for progress.

Milwaukee uses a POWERSTATE brushless motor here, and that matters because a reciprocating saw gets asked to work under load more than most tools. Brushless power helps the saw hold performance when the cut gets ugly, and the REDLINK Plus electronics are there to manage the system so the tool is not just strong on paper but also protected when the work pushes back. Milwaukee specifically calls out overload, overheating, and over-discharging protection, which is exactly the kind of stuff that affects tool life when a saw is used hard.

Durability is a real selling point on this model. The blade clamp is wear-resistant and anti-corrosion, which matters on a saw where blade changes happen constantly and jobsite grime never really goes away. Milwaukee also reinforces the battery connection with metal, so the battery interface holds up better over time. That is not glamorous, but it is the kind of detail you appreciate after months of hauling a saw in and out of trucks, gang boxes, and rough demo spaces.

It is also set up for practical use, not just power. The adjustable shoe helps extend blade life by letting you change contact points as blade teeth wear. The lever action QUIK-LOK blade clamp speeds up blade swaps without wasting time. The built-in LED light helps when you are cutting in basements, mechanical rooms, under cabinets, or anywhere the lighting is bad. And the hang hook is a simple feature that makes the saw easier to park between cuts instead of setting it down in debris.

This Milwaukee reciprocating saw runs on the M18 battery system and is compatible with all M18 batteries and M18 chargers. That is a big deal if you already own M18 drills, impact drivers, grinders, lights, or other cordless tools, because the saw drops right into that setup without adding another battery platform to manage. This listing is tool only, so it is best for users who already have M18 packs and chargers on hand.

At 6.8 pounds bare and 17.1 inches long, it is still a full-capability SAWZALL, but Milwaukee notes it is lighter than the previous generation. That balance matters when you are making repeated overhead cuts, awkward cuts between studs, or one-handed positioning moves before you settle into a two-handed cut. It is not a tiny compact saw, and it is not pretending to be. It is built for users who want full-size cordless reciprocating saw performance.

Who should buy it? Remodelers, plumbers, electricians, general contractors, metal fabricators, and serious DIY users who already run M18 batteries and need a dependable cordless demo saw. If your work regularly includes cutting wood with nails, plastic pipe, metal pipe, strut, or general tear-out material, the Milwaukee 2821-20 M18 FUEL SAWZALL Recip Saw makes a lot of sense. If you need a battery and charger in the box, just know this version does not include them.

Faster Cuts in Real Demo Work

• Metal-reinforced battery connection improves retention and durability over time
• REDLINK Plus electronics help protect the tool under stress
