Key Features

Compact 3-Inch Cutting The small 3 inch format is built for quick, controlled cut-off work where a larger saw or grinder is more tool than you need. It is a practical fit for punch-list work, service calls, and tight spots. M12 Platform Built on Milwaukee's 12V M12 cordless system, this compact cut off tool makes sense for users already running M12 batteries and chargers. That means less bulk on the job and easier pack-out for smaller tasks. Tool Only Setup This PROMO 2522-20 package is sold as a bare tool, which is the right call if you already own Milwaukee M12 batteries. You can add it to your kit without paying again for batteries and a charger you do not need.

Overview

The Milwaukee PROMO 2522-20 M12 FUEL 3" Compact Cut Off Tool, Tool Only is a cordless compact cut off tool for users who need fast, controlled cutting in a small package. This is a compact cut off tool designed for small-format cut-off and trimming tasks where maneuverability matters more than the reach of a larger tool. Model number 2522-20. If you already run Milwaukee's M12 system, this bare tool format is the straightforward way to add a dedicated cutting solution without buying extra batteries or a charger.

What matters here is the combination of the M12 platform and the 3 inch wheel size. That points this tool toward lighter, more precise cut-off work rather than heavy demolition or long production cuts. For service techs, remodelers, maintenance crews, and serious DIY users, that usually means better control in cramped areas, easier one-handed handling, and less hassle when a full-size grinder feels oversized for the task.

The Milwaukee M12 FUEL platform also tells you where this tool sits in the lineup. FUEL tools are Milwaukee's premium cordless line, aimed at users who want better performance and a more job-ready build than entry-level tools. On a compact cut off tool, that matters because this category gets used in awkward positions, overhead work, and quick in-and-out cuts where balance and portability can make the difference between a clean result and a frustrating one.

This PROMO 2522-20 version is listed as tool only, which is worth calling out because it changes who gets the best value from it. If you already have M12 batteries and chargers on the shelf, this is an easy add-on and a smart one if you want a dedicated cutting tool that does not eat up much room in the truck or gang box. If you are not already on M12, you will need to factor batteries and a charger into the total setup.

From a buying standpoint, this tool makes the most sense for people who need a compact cordless cut off tool they can grab quickly for short, targeted cuts. It is especially appealing for trades and users who value portability, platform compatibility, and a smaller cutting format over the size and aggressiveness of a larger grinder or saw. The Milwaukee PROMO 2522-20 M12 FUEL 3" Compact Cut Off Tool is not about being the biggest cutter on the shelf. It is about being the one you actually want to carry and use when space is tight and the job is right for a compact cordless solution.
