Key Features

Less Vibration, More Control Makita AVT uses an internal counterbalance and damper spring to cut vibration during drilling and chipping. That matters most on overhead work and longer runs where arm fatigue slows you down. Real Rotary Hammer Output The 8 amp motor delivers 2.9 J or 2.1 ft-lbs of impact energy with up to 4,500 blows per minute. You get the force needed for concrete drilling, light chipping, and tile removal without stepping up to a much heavier tool. Two Corded Jobsite Staples This Makita rotary hammer kit pairs the HR2641 SDS-PLUS rotary hammer with the GA4530 4-1/2 in. angle grinder and a hard case. It is a practical setup for crews that drill anchors, chip small areas, and handle basic grinding or cutting on the same job.

Overview

The Makita HR2641X1 1 in. SDS-PLUS AVT Rotary Hammer (D-handle) and 4-1/2 in. Angle Grinder is a corded combo kit built for concrete drilling, light chipping, and general grinding or cutoff work. This is a rotary hammer designed for drilling and chipping in concrete, masonry, wood, and metal, with an added angle grinder for secondary material prep and cleanup tasks. Model Number: HR2641X1.

The heart of the kit is the HR2641 rotary hammer. Its 8 amp motor produces 2.9 joules, or 2.1 foot-pounds, of impact energy, with a variable no-load speed range of 0 to 1,100 RPM and 0 to 4,500 blows per minute. On the job, that means it has enough output for anchor holes, overhead drilling, and small demolition tasks without feeling oversized for routine service work.

Makita built this tool around operator comfort, and that is the big reason this model stands out. AVT, short for Anti-Vibration Technology, uses an internal counterbalance system that moves against the drive piston to reduce felt vibration. There is also an integrated damper spring at the base of the impact bolt to absorb more of the shock coming back through the bit. If you spend a lot of time drilling overhead or doing repeated holes in concrete, that reduction in vibration is not a luxury feature. It helps you stay accurate and work longer with less fatigue.

The HR2641 gives you three operating modes: rotation only, hammering with rotation, and chipping only. That makes the tool more useful than a one-purpose concrete drill. Use rotation only when you need standard drilling in wood or metal, hammering with rotation for concrete and masonry holes, and chipping mode for tile removal or light surface cleanup. Makita also adds 40 bit angle settings, which gives you more flexibility when you need to position a chisel for controlled material removal.

For durability, Makita places the hammer function selector below the gear housing in a recessed position. That protects the selector better than exposed layouts that can take hits on the job. The torque limiting clutch is another smart feature because it automatically disengages the gears if the bit binds. That helps protect the gear train and reduces the sudden twist that can happen when a bit hangs up in concrete.

The D-shaped rear handle and rubberized soft grip are geared toward control, especially when working overhead or from awkward positions. Makita also includes a retractable hook so the tool can stay close by on studs, ladders, and rails instead of getting dropped on the floor or balanced somewhere it should not be. At 7.1 lbs and 16-5/8 in. long, it stays portable enough for service crews, punch list work, and all-day site movement.

The included GA4530 4-1/2 in. angle grinder rounds out the kit for common follow-up tasks. If your day includes drilling anchors, knocking off small high spots, cleaning edges, or making light cuts, having both corded tools in one case is useful. This is especially practical for electricians, plumbers, sprinkler installers, masons, maintenance crews, and general contractors who need dependable corded performance without worrying about charging batteries.

The HR2641 accepts SDS-PLUS bits, so it fits a widely used rotary hammer accessory standard. That makes it easy to source common masonry bits and chisels for drilling and chipping applications. If you want one kit that covers concrete fastening work plus grinder duty, this setup makes a lot of sense. If you need heavy demolition, step up to a larger class of hammer. But for anchor work, service installs, overhead drilling, and small chipping jobs, this size is right where a lot of pros want it.

Built to Stay Manageable Overhead

This size class hits a sweet spot for trade work. You get real concrete drilling performance, but the tool is still light enough for overhead use and repetitive anchor holes.

• 7.1 lb net weight helps reduce fatigue during extended drilling
• D-handle layout improves control in tight or elevated working positions
• 13.1 ft cord gives better reach around rooms and jobsite setups

One Case, Two Corded Tools

This kit is not just a rotary hammer with a bonus item thrown in. It gives you two core corded tools that commonly travel together for install, repair, and renovation work.

• Includes the HR2641 rotary hammer and GA4530 angle grinder
• Hard case keeps the kit together for service vans and site transport
• Good fit for drilling, light chipping, tile removal, edge cleanup, and cutoff tasks

Tool Nut's Take

Tool Nut's Take

Makita HR2641X1 is the kind of combo kit that earns space in the van

If your work regularly moves between anchor drilling and cleanup or cutoff tasks, this kit covers a lot of ground without dragging around oversized tools.

• Who it's for: Pros doing concrete fastening, service work, overhead drilling, tile removal, and general repair work.
• Why it stands out: The AVT system makes the rotary hammer easier on the body than a lot of tools in this class, and the included grinder adds real day-to-day value.
• Worth knowing: This is a 1 in. SDS-PLUS rotary hammer, so it is a strong fit for drilling and light chipping, not full-scale demolition.
