Overview

The Makita XPU01Z 18V LXT Brushless Cordless Pruning Shear is a battery-powered pruner that combines commercial-grade cutting performance, cutting control, and long run time in a lightweight tool. This is a cordless pruning shear designed for pruning branches, shrubs, vines, and orchard trees up to 1-3/16 inches thick. Model number XPU01Z. Sold as the tool only; battery and charger are sold separately. A shear blade set is included.

Motorized cutting does the squeezing for you. A razor-sharp bypass blade produces clean, accurate cuts that are healthier for plants, and the shear makes up to 2,400 cuts per charge when cutting 5/8-inch branches with an 18V LXT 2.0Ah battery.

Four blade opening settings of 3/8, 11/16, 1, and 1-3/16 inches let you match the opening to branch size, which optimizes cutting speed and productivity. Cutting depth adjustment (9/16, 3/4, and 1 inch) further fine tunes performance for repetitive pruning.

Built-in motor sensing technology monitors the cutting load, while the trigger provides precise blade actuation and cutting control. Automatic blade opening speeds up repetitive pruning tasks.

An LED display shows battery status and gives low battery, overload, and high temperature warnings. An external oil port allows quick blade lubrication without blade disassembly for easier maintenance and less downtime.

The Makita-built brushless motor delivers efficient cutting while reducing maintenance. Extreme Protection Technology is engineered for improved dust and water resistance in harsh outdoor conditions, and Star Protection Computer Controls protect against overloading, over-discharging, and overheating. At 1.7 lbs. (tool only) and 11-3/4 inches long, it is easy to work with for hours.

The XPU01Z runs on Makita 18V LXT batteries. Orchard and vineyard crews, nursery staff, landscape maintenance pros, and property owners with lots of shrubs and fruit trees will see the biggest payoff in speed and reduced hand fatigue.
