Overview

The Laguna D|Flux: I Cyclone Dust Collector, model MDCDF15510, is a compact cyclone dust collector built for woodworkers who want better chip separation, cleaner air, and easier maintenance than a basic single-stage setup. This is a cyclone dust collector designed for woodworking dust and chip collection. If you are outfitting a one-machine-at-a-time shop or upgrading from a bag collector, this unit brings stronger separation and finer filtration without jumping into a much larger industrial system.

On the numbers, the D|Flux: I pairs a 1.5 horsepower motor at 110 volts with rated airflow of 868 cubic feet per minute. In practical use, that means enough pull for common woodworking machines when the ducting is set up right and the run lengths stay sensible. Laguna also uses a high-efficiency two-stage cyclone separator, so heavier chips and debris drop into the drum before they load up the filter. That matters because better separation usually means steadier suction over time and less time spent dealing with packed filter media.

Filtration is a big part of why this machine makes sense for a real shop. The 1 micron canister filter is designed to capture much finer dust than old-school open bag collectors, and the manual paddle cleaning system gives you a straightforward way to knock dust off the filter without tearing the machine apart. Laguna also routes the fine dust into a clear plastic bag inside the steel drum, which keeps disposal more controlled and makes it easier to see when it is time to empty the system.

From a design standpoint, Laguna kept this collector practical. The 20 gallon steel drum gives you meaningful chip capacity while keeping the footprint manageable, and the air-strut assisted quick-release drum lid helps when it is time to access the collection area. The negative pressure bag retention system is there for a reason too: it helps keep the bag in place instead of letting it collapse or shift around when airflow changes. That is the kind of detail you appreciate after the first few clean-outs.

The machine is also built with jobsite and shop durability in mind. A computer-balanced non-sparking aluminum impeller helps with smooth operation, while the magnetic starter with thermal overload protection adds a layer of motor protection that matters on equipment you expect to run regularly. Noise is rated at 78 decibels, which is worth noting for smaller shops where the dust collector may be operating close to the work area.

For shop layout, Laguna gives you a 6 inch inlet with two 4 inch splitter outlets. That makes the D|Flux: I easier to integrate into a small-shop dust collection setup where you may be pulling from common stationary woodworking machines. The wireless radio-frequency keyfob remote is another everyday convenience that sounds minor until you have used one. Being able to start or stop the collector without walking back across the shop saves steps and makes it more likely you actually run dust collection every time you should.

The mobility is also well thought out. The steel drum rides on four locking casters, so you can reposition the unit as your shop changes or roll it where you need it during setup. At roughly 260 pounds assembled, this is not a grab-and-go machine, but it is still movable inside the shop without needing a permanent installation on day one.

Who should buy it? This dust collector is a strong fit for serious hobby woodworkers, custom furniture builders, cabinet shops, and small professional woodworking spaces that need more control than an entry-level collector can offer. If your priority is cleaner filtration, better chip separation, and easier maintenance in a compact cyclone dust collector, the Laguna D|Flux: I Cyclone Dust Collector is aimed right at that use case.

Built to Keep Airflow Working Longer

The whole point of stepping up to a cyclone dust collector is keeping chips out of the filter as much as possible. This setup separates heavier material first, so the filter has less work to do and airflow stays more consistent through normal shop use.

• High-efficiency two-stage cyclone separator
• Rated at 868 cubic feet per minute for woodworking dust collection
• 1 micron canister filter with manual paddle cleaning system

Easier Drum Access, Less Cleanup Hassle

Dust collection is only useful if emptying it does not turn into another mess. Laguna uses a negative pressure bag retention system and a quick-release drum lid to make the cleanup side of ownership more manageable.

• Negative pressure bag retention system with magnetic quick-connect hose
• Quick-release drum lid with air-strut assistance
• 20 gallon steel drum for chip collection

Shop Controls That Make Sense

This is the kind of machine that gets used a lot, so the motor and controls matter. Laguna specs a TEFC motor, a magnetic starter, and thermal overload protection for dependable operation in a busy woodworking environment.

• 1.5 horsepower TEFC motor running on 110 volts
• Magnetic starter with thermal overload protection
• Wireless radio-frequency keyfob remote for convenient on and off control
