Longer Runtime The 8.0Ah capacity gives Kreg 20V Ionic Drive tools more run time for longer drilling and driving sessions, especially when the job keeps you on the tool instead of back at the charger. Charge Level at a Glance A 4-LED indicator shows remaining charge clearly, so you can decide whether to keep working or swap batteries before a long run of fastening. Built to Last Smart charging, heat management, and drop protection work together to help protect the pack from overcharging, heat damage, and routine jobsite knocks.

Overview

The Kreg 20V Blue Ion 8.0Ah Battery Pack is a high-capacity rechargeable battery for Kreg cordless tools, built for users who need longer run time from the Kreg 20V system. This is a battery pack designed for powering Kreg 20V Ionic Drive tools. Model number BATT8B. If you are using Kreg cordless drills and drivers for longer stretches, this larger-capacity pack matters because it keeps you working longer between charges.

The big story here is capacity. At 8.0 amp hours and 20 volts, this pack is aimed at higher-demand applications and extended work sessions compared to Kreg's smaller Blue Ion battery packs. That makes it a practical upgrade for users who lean on their cordless drill or driver for repetitive fastening, shop builds, cabinet installs, and other jobs where stopping to swap batteries slows everything down.

Kreg also built in a 4-LED charge indicator, which is one of those features you end up using constantly once you have it. Instead of guessing whether the pack is nearly empty, you get a quick read on remaining charge before climbing a ladder, starting a run of screws, or heading to the next room. It is a simple feature, but it saves interruptions and helps you plan around charging instead of getting surprised by it.

Battery life is not just about stored power. It is also about how the pack handles heat and charging. This battery uses smart charging and a heat management system to monitor temperature and help protect against overcharging and heat damage. In practical terms, that is important because heat is hard on battery packs, especially during repeated use and charging cycles. Better management helps protect long-term battery health.

Kreg also calls out drop protection, which makes sense on a battery pack that is going to spend its life on benches, carts, and concrete floors. Batteries take abuse even when the tool itself is handled carefully. Extra protection against accidental impacts is the kind of feature that matters more after a few months on the job than it does on day one.

Compatibility is straightforward. This battery pack is made for Kreg 20V Ionic Drive power tools. If you are already on that platform, it is a direct system purchase that expands your usable runtime. If you are not on the Kreg 20V platform yet, this is not a universal battery. It is a platform-specific power source, so its value is highest for users already committed to Kreg cordless tools or buying into that system now.

At 2.1 pounds, this is not the lightest battery option you could put on a cordless tool, and that is the normal tradeoff with a higher-capacity pack. You are carrying more battery because you are getting more runtime. For overhead work or jobs where the lightest setup matters most, a smaller pack may feel better. For bench work, longer drilling sessions, and fewer battery swaps, this 8.0Ah pack is the better play.

This battery makes the most sense for woodworkers, installers, cabinet builders, and serious DIY users running Kreg 20V tools in the shop or on punch-list work. If your main goal is maximum runtime from the Kreg cordless platform, the Kreg 20V Blue Ion 8.0Ah Battery Pack is the battery you buy.
