Key Features

Metric + Standard The FastCap PMS-16 ProCarpenter Tape Measure gives you metric and standard markings on one tape, so you can move between plans, shop work, and install work without switching tools. Nylon Wrapped Blade The blade is nylon wrapped for better wear resistance. That matters if your tape lives in a pouch, gets dragged across sheet goods, or sees daily jobsite use. Built for Daily Carry A rugged rubber case, belt clip, locking controls, pencil sharpener, and erasable writing pad make this tape measure more useful than a basic layout tape when you are moving fast.

Overview

FastCap PMS-16 ProCarpenter Tape Measure is a 16-foot metric and standard tape measure built for carpentry, woodworking, and general layout work. This is a tape measure designed for measuring, marking, and quick jobsite layout. Model Number: PMS-16. If you work from mixed drawings or bounce between imperial and metric dimensions, this setup saves time because both systems are on the same tool.

The big draw here is the measurement layout. The PMS-16 combines standard measurements with fractions down to 1/16 inch and metric markings in millimeters, which makes it useful in cabinet work, trim work, furniture builds, and punch-list jobs where accuracy matters and conversions slow you down. Instead of carrying separate tapes or doing math in your head, you can read what the plan calls for and get on with the cut or mark.

FastCap also built this tape around the way guys actually use one all day. The rubber case helps it hold up better when it gets dropped or knocked around in a tool bag. The locking setup is there to give you more control over the blade while you measure, especially when you are working one-handed or reaching across a bench, cabinet, or sheet of plywood.

What makes the ProCarpenter line different from a basic tape is the extra utility built into the body. This model includes an erasable writing surface for jotting down dimensions right on the tape and wiping them off later. There is also an integrated pencil sharpener, which sounds small until you are fitting trim or laying out repeat cuts and your pencil point is shot. Those are the kinds of details that make more sense after a week of use than they do on a spec sheet.

The blade itself is nylon wrapped, which is worth calling out because blade wear is what kills a lot of tape measures before the case does. A tougher blade surface helps when the tape is sliding over framing lumber, sheet goods, benches, and jobsite debris. For anyone who uses a tape every day instead of once in a while, that is a practical upgrade, not fluff.

The 16-foot length is a smart size for interior work and shop use. It is long enough for most cabinet, trim, remodel, and punch work, but easier to carry than a bulky long-reach tape. That makes the FastCap PMS-16 ProCarpenter Tape Measure a good fit for finish carpenters, woodworkers, installers, remodelers, and serious DIY users who want quick readability and a few real-world features that help through a full workday.
