Key Features

Two Battery Sizes You get a 6.0Ah XR battery for longer runtime and a 4.0Ah battery for a lighter setup. That gives you a practical mix for heavier work and everyday grab-and-go use. Wide Charger Fit The included charger works with 12V MAX, 20V MAX, and FLEXVOLT batteries. If you already run DEWALT cordless tools, this kit fits into the lineup without adding another charging system. Clear Charge Status The DEWALT DCB246CK 20V MAX Lithium Ion Starter Kit uses battery fuel gauges and staged LED communication so you can check battery status fast. That helps you plan swaps before the tool quits in the middle of a cut or fastener run.

Overview

The DEWALT DCB246CK 20V MAX Lithium Ion Starter Kit is a cordless battery and charger kit built for DEWALT users who need more runtime, better flexibility, and a simple way to power up a 20V MAX tool lineup. This is a battery starter kit designed for powering and charging DEWALT cordless tools across everyday jobsite and shop use. Model Number: DCB246CK. If you are buying into the platform for the first time or adding more packs so your drill, impact driver, saw, or light stays working, this kit makes sense.

What matters here is the battery mix. You get one premium XR 6.0Ah battery and one 4.0Ah battery, so you are not stuck with two packs that do the same job. The 6.0Ah pack is the better choice when runtime matters most, like longer fastening runs, repetitive cuts, or any task where stopping to swap batteries costs time. The 4.0Ah pack gives you a more compact and lighter option when you want better balance on overhead work or smaller tools.

DEWALT also built useful charge-status feedback into the batteries. The 3-LED fuel gauge gives you a quick read on remaining charge, which is the kind of feature you end up using every day once you have it. On top of that, the staged LED communication helps give more information about charging status, so there is less guessing when you are cycling packs through the charger.

The included DCB115 charger adds a lot of value because it is not limited to one battery family. It is compatible with DEWALT 12V MAX, 20V MAX, and FLEXVOLT batteries, which makes this kit a smart pickup for anyone already running multiple DEWALT cordless platforms. Instead of dedicating space to another charger, you get one unit that covers a wide chunk of the system.

From a real-world use standpoint, this kit is about reducing downtime and giving you options. The batteries are described as compact and lightweight for ergonomic benefits, which matters when tool control and fatigue become part of the job. That is especially helpful on overhead applications, repetitive fastening, punch-list work, and service tasks where a bulky battery can make a tool feel nose-heavy or harder to manage.

The included kit bag rounds it out in a way a lot of users appreciate more than they expect. It keeps the charger, batteries, and small cordless essentials together, whether that means moving between rooms on a remodel, keeping spare power on the truck, or setting up a clean charging corner in the shop. It is a simple addition, but it makes the whole starter kit easier to live with.

This DEWALT battery starter kit is best for contractors, service techs, remodelers, carpenters, electricians, and serious DIY users already invested in the DEWALT cordless system or planning to be. If you need bare-tool support, backup packs, or a charger that covers more than one DEWALT battery platform, this kit solves a real problem without overcomplicating things.

Balanced Runtime for Different Jobs

This kit gives you a more useful combination than two matching packs. Run the 6.0Ah XR battery when runtime matters, then switch to the 4.0Ah pack when you want a lighter tool in hand.

• Includes one 6.0Ah XR battery and one 4.0Ah battery
• Compact, lightweight battery design helps with maneuverability and overhead work

One Charger for More of Your DEWALT System

The included DCB115 charger is a practical piece of this kit, not just filler. It works across multiple DEWALT battery platforms, which helps simplify charging if you already own more than one cordless tool family.

• Charger is compatible with 12V MAX, 20V MAX, and FLEXVOLT batteries
• Good fit for users expanding a DEWALT cordless setup instead of starting over

Check Charge Status Fast

Battery readout matters when you are trying to keep work moving. Fuel gauges and staged charging indicators help you know what is ready, what is charging, and when it is time to swap packs before productivity drops.

• 3-LED fuel gauge on the batteries for quick capacity checks
• Stage 1 and Stage 2 LED format gives more charging-state information
