True RMS Accuracy This Milwaukee digital multimeter is built for electricians who need dependable readings on real-world circuits, not just clean lab power. True RMS and auto-ranging help you get accurate measurements across common service and troubleshooting work. Lo-Z for Ghost Voltage Lo-Z mode helps eliminate ghost voltage readings that can waste time and lead to bad calls. That matters when you are checking wiring in residential or commercial systems and need a clearer answer fast. Easy to Read The high-contrast white-on-black display with backlight is easier to read in dim mechanical rooms, basements, and service panels. Rugged overmolding also improves grip and holds up better on the job.

Overview

The Milwaukee 2217-20 Digital Multimeter w/ Lo-Z is a professional-grade electrical tester built for residential, commercial, and service electricians who need dependable readings and straightforward operation. This is a digital multimeter designed for measuring voltage, current, resistance, frequency, capacitance, continuity, and contact temperature during electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics. Model Number: 2217-20.

What makes this meter matter on the job is the combination of True RMS measurement, auto-ranging capability, and Lo-Z functionality. True RMS gives you more dependable readings across a wider range of applications, especially when power is not perfectly clean. Auto-ranging down to millivolts and milliamp ranges helps speed up testing without constantly second-guessing your settings. Lo-Z measurement is a big deal for electricians chasing down phantom or ghost voltage, because it helps filter out misleading readings that can slow down troubleshooting.

The measurement range is set up for everyday electrical work. It reads up to 600V AC/DC, up to 10A AC/DC, frequency from 10 Hz to 50 kHz, resistance up to 40 megaohms, capacitance up to 1,000 microfarads, and contact temperature from -40 degrees Fahrenheit to 752 degrees Fahrenheit. In plain terms, that means one meter can cover common service checks, control work, furnace and HVAC diagnostics, continuity testing, and temperature verification without making you carry extra specialty tools for basic tasks.

Milwaukee also got the usability side right. The high-contrast white-on-black display with backlight is easier to read in dark panels, utility spaces, and mechanical rooms. The dial layout is simple and direct, which is what you want when you are moving through multiple tests in a service call. HOLD, MIN/MAX, and bar graph functions add practical value when readings move around or when you need to capture changing values instead of just glancing at the screen once.

From a durability standpoint, the rugged overmolding matters more than it sounds on paper. Meters get set down on concrete, tossed in tool bags, and used with gloves on. The overmold helps with grip and gives the body a little more protection in rougher working conditions. It is also rated CAT III 600V and meets UL safety requirements, which puts it where it needs to be for a serious electrician's meter instead of a light-duty homeowner tester.

The Milwaukee 2217-20 Digital Multimeter w/ Lo-Z runs on two AA alkaline batteries, so power is easy to replace without hunting down a proprietary pack. Milwaukee also includes the electrical test lead set, a dual banana thermocouple, and the batteries, which means you can start using core functions right away. There is also support for a magnetic meter holder accessory, which can make hands-busy testing a lot more manageable in panel and equipment work.

This multimeter is best suited for electricians, HVAC techs, maintenance pros, and serious DIY users who want one meter that covers the core checks they actually perform. If your work regularly involves service panels, equipment diagnostics, continuity checks, live voltage verification, and temperature testing, this meter makes sense. If you only need a simple presence-or-absence voltage check, it is more tool than you need. But if you troubleshoot for a living, the Lo-Z function and True RMS accuracy are the kind of features that earn their keep quickly.

Built for Real Troubleshooting

This is the kind of multimeter that makes more sense the more service work you do. It covers the core measurements electricians and technicians use every day, while Lo-Z helps cut through misleading voltage readings that can waste time.

• Measures up to 600V AC/DC for common electrical diagnostics
• Reads frequency from 10 Hz to 50 kHz and current up to 10A AC/DC
• Lo-Z mode helps eliminate ghost voltage during troubleshooting

Clear Readings in Dark Work Areas

Bad lighting is normal in basements, utility closets, and mechanical spaces. The white-on-black backlit display gives you a cleaner reading at a glance, and the simple dial layout keeps operation straightforward when you are moving fast.

• Digital display with backlight for easier viewing
• HOLD, MIN/MAX, and bar graph functions add practical diagnostic value
• Dial switch design is simple to navigate with gloves or one hand
