Overview

Empire Level 24 in. Magnetic I-Beam Level, Model Number 500M.24, is a 24-inch aluminum jobsite level built for layout, alignment, and installation work on wood and metal surfaces. This is a magnetic I-beam level designed for accurate leveling and plumbing during framing, metal stud work, pipe installation, and general construction tasks. If you need a straightforward hand tool that reads clean, sticks to steel, and survives daily use, this is the kind of level that earns its place in the truck.

The headline spec here is the accuracy: 0.0005 in. per in. in all working positions. That matters because a level is only as useful as the confidence it gives you when you're hanging cabinets, setting door frames, checking track, or lining up steel studs. Empire also uses high-contrast vial surrounds, which makes the bubble easier to read in uneven lighting. On real jobs, that means less squinting and faster checks when you're moving between bright exterior work and dim interior spaces.

The frame is an all-metal aluminum I-beam design, which hits a good balance between durability and carry weight. At about 1.24 lbs, it is light enough for everyday use without feeling flimsy. Impact-resistant acrylic mono vials are built to hold up better than cheaper vial setups, and the impact-resistant endcaps help protect the frame and vial areas when the level gets tossed in a box, leaned against material, or bumped around on a site.

One of the more practical features is the continuous magnetic edge. On ferrous metal surfaces, that gives you hands-free holding power when you're checking steel studs, doors, pipe, or other metalworking applications. That is a real time-saver if you're working solo, because you can keep one hand free to adjust material or fasteners instead of trying to pin the level in place.

Empire also adds a top-read window, which is a simple feature that makes a difference when you're reading the vial from above. For overhead checks or awkward positions, you do not have to twist your body just to confirm level. Molded grip zones and the center opening improve comfort and portability, so the tool is easier to grab, carry, and reposition through a full day of use.

This level is built for tradespeople who want dependable performance without jumping to a heavier or bulkier box level. It makes sense for general contractors, carpenters, drywall crews, metal framing installers, plumbers, and serious DIY users who need a magnetic level for common install and alignment work. If most of your day involves quick, repeatable checks on framing members, pipe, or metal surfaces, the 24-inch format is a practical middle ground: long enough for useful reference, short enough to carry anywhere.

Stays Put on Steel

The magnetic edge is the feature that changes this from a basic level into a more useful jobsite tool. When the surface is steel, you can let the level hold itself while you adjust, fasten, or verify your setup.

• High-strength continuous magnetic edge for ferrous metal materials
• Useful for door frames, steel studs, ferrous pipe, and similar metalworking tasks

Easy Bubble Read in Bad Light

Good vial visibility saves time. Empire's high-contrast surrounds and top-read window make readings easier to catch quickly, especially when you're working overhead or in mixed lighting.

• High-contrast vial surrounds improve visibility
• Top-read window helps with overhead viewing and awkward positions

Built for Daily Carry

A level gets handled constantly, so comfort and durability matter more than people think. This one keeps the frame light, adds grip zones, and protects the ends and vials from routine abuse.

• All-metal aluminum I-beam frame with impact-resistant acrylic mono vials
• Grip zones, hang hole, and endcaps improve portability, storage, and durability
