Key Features

Cabinet-Saw StabilityCabinet-mounted cast-iron trunnions help this hybrid table saw run smoother and hold settings better than lighter contractor-style setups. That means cleaner cuts and less chasing alignment. Better Dust ControlThe enclosed cabinet bottom and 4 inch dust port do a better job containing sawdust than open-base designs. That matters if this saw is going in a working shop, not just sitting in a garage corner. Moves When NeededA built-in foot-operated mobile base makes it easier to reposition a 240-plus pound saw without wrestling with an add-on dolly. Good if you need shop-grade capacity but still need floor flexibility.

Overview

The Shop Fox W1837 2 HP 10-Inch Hybrid Open Stand Table Saw is built for woodworkers and shop owners who want cabinet-saw-style accuracy and dust control without stepping all the way up to a full cabinet saw. This is a hybrid table saw designed for ripping, crosscutting, bevel cutting, and dado work in a woodworking shop. Model Number: W1837. With a 2 HP single-phase motor, a 10 inch blade, and a 30 inch right rip capacity, it is aimed at serious users who need real capacity and cleaner setup than a basic jobsite or contractor table saw can usually deliver.

On the numbers that matter, the W1837 gives you a 3,450 RPM arbor speed, 3-1/4 inch max depth of cut at 90 degrees, 2-1/4 inch max depth of cut at 45 degrees, and left-tilt blade operation. In plain terms, that means it has the depth for common hardwood, sheet goods, and framing stock, while the left-tilt setup helps reduce fence-side trapping on bevel cuts. The 30 inch rip capacity to the right and 15 inch capacity to the left gives you enough room for breaking down many cabinet parts and trimming wider panels without feeling cramped.

What separates this saw from lighter-duty options is the structure. Shop Fox uses cabinet-mounted cast-iron trunnions and a precision-ground cast-iron table with steel extension wings. That matters because the trunnion setup has a big influence on vibration control, cut consistency, and long-term alignment. A lighter saw can get the job done, but if you cut hardwood regularly or care about repeatable fence settings, the heavier hybrid layout is the smarter place to spend money.

The fence system is another strong point. The lift-off Precision Fence locks at the front and rear, and the fence body includes T-slots for mounting accessories such as featherboards. That gives you a more versatile ripping setup for repeat cuts and stock control. The Easy Glide Fence System is there for the same reason: less fighting the fence, more time actually cutting. For furniture work, cabinet parts, and general shop production, a fence that slides smoothly and locks reliably is not a luxury. It is the whole game.

Dust handling is better than what you get from a wide-open stand saw. The enclosed steel upper stand and 4 inch dust port are designed to keep chips and fine dust more contained so your collector can actually do its job. The quick removal and replacement system for the blade guard and riving knife also makes this saw more practical in real use. You can switch setups faster when the cut changes, and the interchangeable riving knife keeps protection in place for non-through cuts where the full blade guard has to come off.

From a power standpoint, the motor is 120V/240V single phase and comes prewired for 120V. It draws 15 amps at 120V or 7.5 amps at 240V. That gives you some flexibility depending on how your shop is wired. If you are running a standard 120V 20A circuit now, you can get started without rewiring the whole shop. If you already have 240V available, you have that option too. The serpentine belt and pulley system is also worth noting because it is designed for smoother, quieter operation and better power transfer than a basic V-belt arrangement.

The Shop Fox W1837 2 HP 10-Inch Hybrid Open Stand Table Saw is a strong fit for woodworking shops, custom cabinet work, furniture building, remodeling shops, and serious DIY users who have outgrown portable saws. If you need to move the saw occasionally, the built-in mobile base is a real advantage. If you need true jobsite portability, this is not that saw. But if your priority is better accuracy, better dust collection, and a more planted feel during rip cuts and bevel work, this model lands in a very useful middle ground.

Shop-Ready Cutting Capacity

This saw is built for the user who needs full-size table saw function without jumping to a massive cabinet saw footprint. The wide rip range and solid table setup make it a practical center tool for a serious wood shop.

• 30 inch rip capacity to the right and 15 inch rip capacity to the left
• 10 inch blade with 3-1/4 inch cut depth at 90 degrees
• Precision-ground cast-iron table with steel wings for stable stock support

Fence Accuracy You Can Repeat

A table saw lives or dies by its fence. The W1837 uses a lift-off fence with front and rear locking so it stays put once you set it, and the measurement scale helps speed up repeat work.

• Lift-off Precision Fence with front and rear locking ability
• T-slots on the fence for accessories such as featherboards
• Easy Glide Fence System for smoother adjustment across the table

Safer Setup Changes

The guard and riving knife system is designed to be used, not ignored. Faster removal and replacement makes it more realistic to keep the right setup on the saw for the cut you are making.

• Quick removal and replacement system for the blade guard and riving knife
• Interchangeable riving knife supports non-through cutting operations
• Includes a T-slot miter gauge for guided crosscut work

Heavy Enough to Cut, Easy Enough to Move

This is not a grab-and-go saw, but it also does not need to stay locked in one corner forever. The built-in mobile base makes sense for small shops where floor space gets reworked depending on the job.

• Built-in foot-operated mobility system for easier repositioning
• Weight is approximately 243 lbs
• Hybrid open-stand layout balances shop stability and usable mobility
