Overview

The SquiJig 1.5-in. Tall Framing Jigs, Green, 2-Pack (model Squi.Jig 1.5-Green) are aluminum framing jigs that clamp onto most carpenter squares. This is a square-mounted layout jig set designed for stair stringer layout, rafter layout, and repeatable marking on lumber and steel. Each set includes two jigs and their thumbscrews.

Clamp a pair on a framing square at your rise and run and they work as stair gauges, so every tread and riser you mark matches the first. Move one to a speed square and it becomes a fixed angle stop for rafter layout. Run it along a board edge and it guides a circular saw for a straight rip.

The 1.5-in. tall profile is the difference from flat, low stair gauge buttons. It extends down past rounded edges, wane, and defects on the work piece and grabs the true face of the stock, so the layout is accurate even on rough framing lumber.

The slot is just over 5/16 in. tall and fits square blades up to 0.32 in. (5/16 in.) thick. The bright dip-anodized finish keeps the jigs light and easy to find in a tool bag, and the taller thumbscrews are easy to work with gloves on.

These are built for framers, stair builders, deck builders, and remodelers who lay out stringers and rafters often enough that re-measuring every step costs real time. They are made in the USA.

Lock In Stair Stringer Layout

Clamp a pair on your framing square at the rise and run, and every step you mark comes out identical. No re-measuring each tread, no drift down the stringer.

• Works as a stair gauge set on most framing squares
• Taller profile holds firm against the edge of the board

Turn Your Square Into a Rip Guide

Clamp a jig to your square and run it along the board edge to guide a circular saw for straight, repeatable rips.

• Doubles as a saw rip guide on the jobsite
• Thumbscrew clamping sets and releases in seconds

Repeatable Angles on a Speed Square

Set the jig on your speed square at the angle you need and it stays there, so rafter marks repeat without re-reading the scale.

• Angle guide on speed and rafter squares
• Consistent layout across a full stack of rafters

Square Up Assemblies

Clamp the square to the stock and it holds itself in place, freeing both hands to check and fasten an assembly.

• Holds the square against posts and frames
• Thumbscrews tighten by hand, even with gloves on

For stair stringers, set one jig on the tongue at your riser height and the other on the blade at your tread depth, then step the square down the board. Each layout lands in the same spot without touching the tape again.

Cheap Insurance Against a Bad Stringer

The SquiJig 1.5-in. Tall Framing Jigs, Green, 2-Pack turn any framing square into a repeatable layout tool, and the taller body is what makes them hold true on real-world lumber.

• Who it's for: Framers and stair builders who lay out stringers and rafters every week.
• Why it stands out: The 1.5-in. height clears wane and rounded edges that make flat stair gauges slip and misread.
• Worth knowing: Sold as a pair. The 3-in. version adds more reach for metal tube and wider stock.

Common Questions
