Key Features

Drives With Less Effort Low-torque threads help this deck screw drive easier, which means less strain on the driver and more screws per battery charge on deck jobs. Fast Starts, Clean Finish The high-low threaded point starts quickly, and the rimmed flat head with nibs helps the screw countersink cleanly instead of fighting the surface. Built for Exterior Wood Quik Guard coating gives the Simpson Strong-Tie deck screw corrosion resistance for exterior and certain preservative-treated wood applications covered by ICC-ES AC257 exposure conditions 1 and 3.

Overview

The Simpson Strong-Tie DSVT2MB Deck-Drive DSV WOOD Screw is a tan, #10 x 2 in. exterior wood screw made for fastening wood to wood in decking and other outdoor lumber applications. This is a wood screw designed for fastening wood to wood in exterior decking, preservative-treated lumber, and engineered wood applications. Model Number: DSVT2MB. If you need a screw that starts quickly, seats cleanly, and blends better with tan deck boards than a standard bright fastener, this is the kind of screw you buy by the big box and keep driving.

What matters here is how the features work together on the job. The high-low threaded point is built for fast starts, so you spend less time babying the screw into position. The variable thread design is optimized for dimensional lumber, which helps the fastener pull in consistently when you're laying deck boards or working through exterior wood assemblies. Simpson Strong-Tie also rates the #10 DSV wood screw for shear, pull-through, and withdrawal resistance, which gives this screw more substance than a generic exterior fastener.

The low-torque thread design is one of the real selling points. In practical terms, it reduces driving effort so your impact driver or drill does not have to work as hard on repetitive fastening. Simpson Strong-Tie states this design can allow up to 35% more screws to be driven on a battery charge. If you are installing a lot of deck boards, that translates into fewer battery swaps and a smoother workflow.

The head design is also doing real work, not just checking a box on a spec sheet. This screw uses a rimmed flat head with nibs, which helps it countersink into wood more easily and leave a cleaner finished appearance. That matters on exposed deck surfaces where ugly mushrooming and proud heads stand out right away. The tan color is there for the same reason. It is meant to blend better with many wood decking tones instead of drawing attention to every fastener location.

For outdoor use, the Quik Guard coating is the important piece. This coating provides corrosion resistance for exterior wood and certain preservative-treated wood applications as described by ICC-ES AC257, exposure conditions 1 and 3. That makes the Simpson Strong-Tie DSVT2MB Deck-Drive DSV WOOD Screw a practical choice for deck building, repairs, and general exterior wood fastening where weather exposure and treated lumber are part of the job.

Drive interface matters too, especially when you are running fasteners all day. This screw uses a T25 6-lobe drive, which is a solid choice for staying engaged under load compared with smaller drives that strip out more easily when you lean on them. With a #10 diameter, 2 in. length, and 0.330 in. head diameter, this size lands in a useful range for wood-to-wood fastening where you want good hold without moving up to a larger structural screw.

Who is this for? Deck builders, remodelers, carpenters, fence crews, and serious DIY users working on exterior wood projects. The 1,750-count package is best suited to larger builds, repeated use, or anybody who would rather buy once and keep the right exterior wood screws on hand. If you only need a handful of screws for one small repair, this pack is more than you need. If you are building or resurfacing a deck, it makes a lot more sense.

Pro Tip

Run these with a fresh T25 bit and steady forward pressure. That lets the fast-start point bite cleanly and helps the nibbed head seat flush without chewing up the drive recess.
