Heavy Gauge Metal Cutting The Makita JN3201 Corded 10 Gauge Nibbler cuts up to 10 gauge mild steel and 13 gauge stainless steel, so it is built for serious sheet metal work instead of light trim-only jobs. Fast, Continuous Operation A 6.2 amp motor and 1,300 strokes per minute keep material moving without bogging down, and the lock-on switch helps on long runs where stopping and restarting gets old fast. Cleaner, Easier Control The balanced body, rubberized soft grip, visible line of sight, and chip discharge below the cut help you follow patterns accurately while reducing surface damage on finished material.

Overview

The Makita JN3201 Corded 10 Gauge Nibbler is a corded metal cutting tool built for heavy sheet metal work where clean pattern cuts and steady control matter. This is a nibbler designed for cutting sheet metal. Model Number JN3201. If you work with mild steel, stainless steel, or aluminum and need to cut curves, inside shapes, or longer runs without fighting the tool, this is the kind of machine that earns its spot in the truck or fab area.

The big selling point here is capacity. The JN3201 is rated for up to 10 gauge mild steel, 10 gauge aluminum, and 13 gauge stainless steel. That gives it real capability for HVAC fabrication, roofing details, metal panels, and general fabrication work where lighter-duty metal shears start running out of room. The 6.2 amp motor drives the head at 1,300 strokes per minute, so you are not creeping through the cut. It is built for continuous operation, and the lock-on switch makes a difference when you are running longer sections.

Makita also got the practical details right. A built-in thickness gauge saves time when you are checking stock before you start, and the highly visible line of sight helps when you are following a layout line or working a tighter pattern. The small cutting radius, 4-3/4 inches on the inner edge and 5-1/16 inches on the outer edge, makes this a better fit for curved cuts and precision work than tools that are more comfortable only on straight runs.

For day-to-day use, the balance and grip matter just as much as raw cutting specs. The rubberized soft grip handle and compact 8-1/2 inch overall length help keep the tool controlled, especially when you are repositioning through curves or working awkward sheet placement. At 7.5 pounds net weight, it is not a featherweight, but it is still manageable for real production work and has enough mass to feel planted instead of twitchy.

This Makita nibbler is also designed to be easier on finished surfaces and easier to maintain. Chip disposal is directed below the cutting material to help minimize damage to the top side of the workpiece. Punch and die replacement is straightforward, which means less downtime when wear parts need attention. Makita also includes on-tool hex wrench storage, so you are less likely to waste time hunting for the right wrench when adjustments come up.

Noise is another real-world advantage. Makita rates it at 81 dB(A), which is lower than a lot of tools in this class and helps when the job calls for longer cutting sessions. Add in all ball and needle bearings, double insulation, and UL listing, and you get a corded nibbler that is built for regular shop or jobsite use, not just occasional cuts.

Who is this for? The Makita JN3201 Corded 10 Gauge Nibbler makes the most sense for HVAC installers, sheet metal shops, roofing crews, metal fabricators, and contractors who regularly cut heavier-gauge material and want cleaner curves than snips can deliver. If your work is mostly thin flashing once in a while, this is more tool than you need. If you cut metal often and want capacity, control, and less downtime, this is a strong pick.
