Overview

The DEWALT DCE180B 20V MAX Plastic Tubing Cutter is a cordless plastic tubing cutter built for fast, clean cuts in plastic pipe and tubing up to 2 inches. This is a plastic tubing cutter designed for cutting PVC and similar plastic materials on plumbing, mechanical, and electrical jobs. Model Number DCE180B. If you are tired of slow ratcheting cutters and rough pipe ends, this tool is the upgrade that saves time on repetitive work.

On the job, the big story is speed without giving up control. DEWALT rates it to cut 2 inch Schedule 80 PVC in up to 3 seconds, and it can make up to 400 cuts per charge when used on 2 inch Schedule 40 PVC with a DCB203 battery sold separately. That matters when you are trimming down a pile of pipe for rough-in work or knocking out repetitive overhead and floor-level cuts where hand cutters start wearing you out.

DEWALT also gave this tubing cutter both automatic and manual cutting modes. That is not just a spec sheet add-on. It gives you a better way to manage different cut situations. Automatic mode helps move through production work faster, while manual mode gives you more deliberate control when you are lining up a cut in a tighter spot or want to ease into the material with more precision.

The tool is built around a D-handle style grip that keeps it balanced in the hand. For a cutter like this, balance matters because you are often holding pipe with one hand and tool with the other, sometimes low to the ground, sometimes against a wall, and sometimes between studs. DEWALT also includes an onboard LED, which is genuinely useful in utility rooms, basements, and framed interiors where lighting is never as good as it should be.

Cut quality is another strong point. The stainless steel blade is corrosion and rust resistant, and the tool is made to deliver clean, burr-free cuts in plastic materials. That means less cleanup before fitting, gluing, or moving to the next step. For plumbers and mechanical contractors, cleaner cuts help keep installation moving instead of stopping to fix rough ends.

From a jobsite practicality standpoint, the integrated anchor points are worth noting. You can fasten the housing to a workbench top for a more fixed cutting setup, which is handy when you are batching out repeated cuts in the shop or on site. DEWALT also made the tool TOOL CONNECT Chip-Ready, so it can work with the DEWALT DCE042 chip sold separately for asset management and tool location through the DEWALT Site Manager app.

This is part of the DEWALT 20V MAX battery platform, so it makes the most sense for users already invested in that cordless system. It is sold as a bare tool, so battery and charger are not included. For crews already running DEWALT batteries, that keeps cost down and makes this an easy add to the truck without buying extra power you may not need.

Who should buy it? This one is squarely aimed at plumbing, mechanical, and electrical trades that regularly cut plastic tubing or PVC. It also makes sense for remodelers and general contractors doing enough plastic pipe work to justify a dedicated cordless cutter. If you only cut plastic pipe once in a while, a manual cutter may still be enough. If you cut it every week, the DEWALT DCE180B 20V MAX Plastic Tubing Cutter starts earning its keep pretty quickly.
