Key Features

Single-Pass DepthThe Makita XEC01PT1 power cutter makes cuts up to 3-1/2 inches deep, which is enough to get through standard residential concrete slab in one pass. Less repositioning means faster work and cleaner workflow on masonry and metal jobs. Gas-Free CuttingThis cordless cut-off saw runs on Makita 18V LXT batteries instead of gas, so there are no pull starts, no fuel mixing, and no engine maintenance. That matters when you need fast starts, lower fatigue, and the ability to work indoors. Better ControlAn integrated water delivery system supports OSHA Table 1 concrete cutting compliance, while AFT and the electric brake add control when the wheel binds or the cut is finished. It is a smarter setup for tough material and rough jobsite conditions.

Overview

The Makita XEC01PT1 36V (18V X2) LXT Brushless 9 Inch Power Cutter Kit is a cordless power cutter built for concrete cutting, metal cutting, and demolition work where a gas saw is more hassle than help. This is a power cutter designed for cutting masonry and metal materials. Model Number: XEC01PT1. If you need the reach and capacity of a 9 inch cut-off saw but want instant starts, lower maintenance, and indoor-friendly operation, this is the kind of machine that makes sense.

What separates this Makita from a typical gas power cutter is how much jobsite friction it removes. You do not have to mix fuel, deal with pull starts, or keep up with engine maintenance. Makita pairs a purpose-built brushless motor with two 18V LXT batteries to produce 36V class performance, with a no-load speed of 6,600 RPM. On the job, that means the tool is ready when you are, and it has the wheel speed needed for cutting concrete slab, steel pipe, rebar, metal stud, and similar material without dragging a cord or managing a fuel can.

The big number here is the 3-1/2 inch maximum cutting depth. That matters because it allows single-pass cuts through standard residential concrete slab, which saves time and helps keep your cut line consistent. Makita also specifies use on I-beams, 3 inch steel pipe, 3/4 inch to #6 rebar, and 14 inch wide metal stud, so this is not a one-material tool. For remodelers, masons, metal fabricators, and utility trades, that versatility is the difference between carrying one specialty cutter and covering a wide range of field work.

Makita built this cutter around jobsite control, not just raw output. The integrated water delivery system continuously feeds water for OSHA Table 1 compliance in concrete cutting applications, and the adjustment knob lets you manage flow based on the material and cut. That is a practical feature, because it helps with dust control while keeping the process simpler than rigging up a separate workaround. Add in the protective battery compartment, and the tool is better prepared for slurry, dust, and the mess that comes with real cutting work.

There are also several details that make the tool easier to live with over a full day. The belt-drive design is there for smoother operation and lower vibration, which matters when you are making repeated cuts. The rubberized front handle can be held in multiple positions, so you can stay more comfortable as the angle of the cut changes. A built-in LED light helps when you are cutting in dim mechanical rooms, under structures, or at the end of the day. The large spindle lock button is easier to use with gloves on, which is exactly the sort of small feature you notice after a few wheel changes in the field.

From a safety and control standpoint, this cutter is well thought out. Active Feedback-sensing Technology shuts the motor off if the wheel rotation is suddenly forced to stop, helping reduce the risk of a violent bind-up event. The electric brake stops the wheel in 4 seconds or less, so you can reposition faster and spend less time waiting for the wheel to coast down. Makita also includes soft start, overload protection, an overload indicator, and a lock-off power switch that requires two actions to start. None of that is filler. On a power cutter, those features matter.

The Makita XEC01PT1 36V (18V X2) LXT Brushless 9 Inch Power Cutter Kit is part of the Makita 18V LXT platform, which is a big advantage if you are already invested in Makita cordless tools. It runs on two 18V LXT batteries and is compatible with Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries that have the Star symbol. The included 5.0Ah packs and dual-port rapid charger make this a ready-to-work kit, not a bare tool that sends you shopping for the rest of the system. Makita also backs the tool, batteries, and charger with a 3-year limited warranty.

Who is this for? Contractors and serious users who need a cordless cut-off saw that can handle concrete and metal without the baggage of gas equipment. Masons, roofers, plumbers, hardscape crews, framers, pipe fitters, mechanics, and general construction pros all have a real use case here. If you are doing occasional light cutting, this may be more tool than you need. But if you want a serious cordless power cutter that saves setup time, cuts deep, and stays within the Makita LXT battery system, this one earns its spot in the truck.

Makita XEC01PT1 Power Cutter Cutting Capacity

This kit is built around Makita's 18V X2 setup, which gives you cordless freedom without stepping outside the LXT battery platform. For crews already running Makita batteries, that means less downtime, fewer extra systems to manage, and easier fleet standardization.

• Powered by two 18V LXT Lithium-Ion batteries for 36V class operation
• Includes four 5.0Ah batteries so you can keep a pair charging while the other pair is in the tool

Ready for Real Concrete and Metal Work

The included dual-port charger is a big part of why this kit works for production use instead of just occasional cutting. Makita states the 5.0Ah batteries reach a full charge in 45 minutes or less, so you can keep the rotation moving instead of waiting around on charging cycles.

• Dual-port rapid charger included in the kit
• BL1850B 5.0Ah batteries reach full charge in 45 minutes or less

Kit Setup That Gets You Working Faster
