Real 2x Capacity With a max cut depth of 2-7/16 in. at 90 degrees and 1-7/8 in. at 45 degrees, this circular saw handles common framing and trim stock cleanly, including 2x material at a 45-degree bevel. Cleaner, Safer Workflow Soft start, an electronic blade brake, LED light, and a 1-1/4 in. vacuum port all work together to make cuts easier to see, easier to control, and easier to clean up.

Overview

The Kreg KPTCS725A 20V Ionic Drive 7-1/4-in Circular Saw is a cordless circular saw built for clean, accurate cutting in sheet goods, hardwood, and dimensional lumber. This is a circular saw designed for general crosscuts, rip cuts, and bevel cutting on the jobsite or in the shop. Model Number KPTCS725A. As a tool-only setup, it is aimed at users already running the Kreg 20V Ionic Drive platform and who want a full-size saw without paying again for a battery and charger.

The big story here is usable cutting performance without a lot of extra drama. The brushless motor is there for one reason: steady power and better efficiency under load. In real use, that means the saw is set up to stay smooth through plywood, hardwood, and common framing lumber instead of feeling bogged down when the cut gets longer. Kreg also includes a premium SureCut 40-tooth finishing blade, which matters because a good blade changes the first-cut experience right out of the box. You are not immediately shopping for an upgrade just to get a clean edge.

Capacity is strong for a 7-1/4 in. cordless saw. With a maximum depth of cut of 2-7/16 in. at 90 degrees and 1-7/8 in. at 45 degrees, it can cut 2x material at a 45-degree bevel. That is a practical spec, not filler. If you are working on deck parts, blocking, trim backing, shelving, or general carpentry, being able to make that bevel in one pass saves time and avoids flipping material around to finish the cut.

Kreg also leaned into control and jobsite friendliness. The soft-start motor helps reduce the jump at startup, which makes the saw feel more settled when you are lining up on a mark. The electronic blade brake stops the blade quickly when you release the trigger, so you spend less time waiting for the blade to coast down before setting the saw aside. An LED light improves cutline visibility, especially in garages, basements, punch-list work, or anywhere the lighting is less than ideal.

For durability, the saw uses an all-metal base plate. That matters because the base is what rides against your work and guide surfaces every time you cut. A solid metal shoe holds up better to transport, repeated setup, and jobsite bumps than lighter-duty alternatives. Kreg also added onboard storage for the blade-change Allen wrench, which is the kind of small detail that keeps a quick blade swap from turning into a search mission in the bottom of a toolbox.

Dust handling is another practical plus. The integrated 1-1/4 in. vacuum port helps keep chips and dust under control, which is especially useful when cutting plywood indoors or when you are trying to keep your line visible during finish work. On top of that, the base plate is compatible with the Kreg Accu-Cut system, sold separately, so you can get track-saw-like guidance from a circular saw platform. That makes this saw more versatile than a basic freehand cutter and gives it a real edge for straight, repeatable sheet-goods work.

Compatibility matters here because this is not a standalone one-off tool. The saw runs on the Kreg 20V Ionic Drive battery system and requires one battery, but batteries and charger are not included with this bare tool. It also accepts the included 7-1/4 in. 40-tooth blade with a 5/8 in. arbor, and it is set up for users who want to pair the saw with the Accu-Cut Circular Saw Track Guide for more guided cutting.

Who should buy it? This saw makes the most sense for carpenters, remodelers, cabinet installers, serious DIY users, and shop owners who want a cordless circular saw that can go from rough lumber to cleaner plywood cuts without feeling underbuilt. If you already own Kreg 20V Ionic Drive batteries and want one saw that covers framing cuts, sheet-good breakdown, bevel work, and guided straight cuts, this is a well-thought-out option.
