Overview

The Tajima PLC3-BK900 Snap Line Dye is a black powdered chalk line dye made for layout and marking work. This is a snap line dye designed for semi-permanent marking tasks. Model Number: PLC3-BK900. If you need layout marks that read clearly and hold up better than basic chalk in rough jobsite conditions, this is the kind of refill you keep on hand.

What matters here is the powder itself. Tajima calls it an ultra-fine powdered dye, and that usually translates to more consistent line transfer through a chalk box and sharper snap lines on the surface. For framing, general construction layout, and other marking jobs where accuracy starts with a visible line, finer powder is not just a spec on paper. It helps the chalk line coat evenly and snap cleanly.

This black snap line dye is also listed as wind resistant and water repellent. That is a real advantage outdoors or on open sites where lighter chalk can scatter too easily or fade fast once the surface picks up moisture. If your layout line needs to hang around longer than a temporary dust mark, this formula is a better fit than general-purpose chalk.

The bottle design is worth mentioning too. The easy fill nozzle is there for a reason: less wasted dye, less mess at the gang box, and quicker refills when your chalk reel is running low. On supplies like this, small packaging details make a difference because you use them often and usually when you're in the middle of a task, not standing at a bench taking your time.

At 2 lb (907 g), this bottle gives you a full-size supply for regular use rather than occasional touch-up work. That makes it a practical buy for crews, remodelers, carpenters, concrete layout work, and anyone who goes through chalk line refill at a steady pace. The black color is a strong choice when you need high line visibility on lighter surfaces.

Who should buy it? Anyone already running a chalk line reel and looking for a better refill than bargain-bin chalk. The Tajima PLC3-BK900 Snap Line Dye makes the most sense for users who care about line clarity, better hold in working conditions, and a bottle that is easier to refill without making a mess of the truck or job box.
