Fast 45-Minute ChargeWhen you rotate batteries all day, charge time matters as much as runtime. These 5.0Ah packs reach full charge in 45 minutes or less with a Makita Rapid Optimum Charger, so they spend less time on the bench and more time in the tool. 5.0Ah RuntimeThe Makita BL1850B-2 18V LXT Lithium-Ion 5.0Ah Battery 2-Pack is built for longer run time on demanding cordless tools. Makita rates it for up to 65% more runtime per charge compared to the BL1830. Add in the impact-resistant case and shock-absorbing liner, and you get a battery pack made for real work instead of light-duty shelf life.

Overview

The Makita BL1850B-2 18V LXT Lithium-Ion 5.0Ah Battery 2-Pack is a cordless tool battery pack built for Makita 18V LXT users who need strong runtime, fast turnaround, and dependable performance across a full day of work. This is a battery pack designed for powering Makita 18V LXT cordless tools in demanding fastening, drilling, cutting, and jobsite applications. Model Number: BL1850B-2.

The big reason contractors buy this pack is simple: it balances runtime and charging speed well. Each battery delivers 5.0Ah capacity, and Makita states it provides up to 65% more runtime per charge than the BL1830. Just as important, it reaches a full charge in 45 minutes or less with the proper Makita charger. If you run impact drivers, drills, saws, grinders, or outdoor power equipment on the LXT platform, that quicker recharge helps keep your workflow moving instead of waiting on batteries.

Makita also built these packs for actual jobsite conditions, not just lab numbers. STAR Protection Computer Controls allow the tool and battery to communicate in real time to help protect against overloading, over-discharging, and overheating. That matters when you lean on a tool hard, use it in repetitive cycles, or switch between different applications throughout the day. The battery also resists self-discharge, so it is more likely to be ready when it comes off the shelf after sitting for a while.

From a design standpoint, the details are solid. The integrated LED fuel gauge lets you check charge level without guessing, which is a small feature that saves a lot of annoyance on the job. Makita also uses an impact-resistant outer case with a shock-absorbing inner liner to better handle daily bumps and drops. Sixteen contact terminals help maintain a consistent connection to the tool, which is especially useful in higher-vibration applications where power interruptions are the last thing you want.

Temperature performance is another practical advantage. Makita states the battery delivers consistent power and runtime in extreme temperatures, even in winter conditions down to -4 degrees Fahrenheit. For crews working outdoors, in garages, on service calls, or in unheated spaces, that kind of cold-weather performance can make a real difference compared to packs that fall off badly once the temperature drops.

Compatibility matters here, because this is not a universal 18V battery. The Makita BL1850B-2 18V LXT Lithium-Ion 5.0Ah Battery 2-Pack is compatible only with Makita Star Protection tools, identified by the Star Symbol and/or the yellow battery receiver under the tool. If you are already on the Makita 18V LXT platform, this is the battery system most users want because it fits into the broad 18V LXT cordless lineup and supports the kind of runtime serious users expect.

This battery 2-pack makes the most sense for pros and serious DIY users who already own Makita 18V LXT tools and want fewer battery swaps during the day. It is especially useful for remodelers, electricians, HVAC techs, carpenters, service pros, and general contractors running multiple cordless tools on one platform. If you just need the cheapest battery, this is not the point of this pack. If you want reliable 18V LXT power, longer runtime, and fast charge cycles that keep tools in service, it is one of the core batteries in the Makita lineup.

• Makita rates it for up to 65% more runtime than BL1830
• Two-pack setup helps reduce downtime between tasks

Check Charge at a Glance

The built-in LED charge indicator is one of those features you appreciate every day. Instead of throwing a battery in a tool and hoping it is ready, you can check remaining charge before you climb a ladder, head into a crawlspace, or start a cut.
