Overview

The Makita 12V max CXT Lithium-Ion Battery and Charger Starter Pack (2.0Ah), Model BL1021BDC1, is a battery and charger set built for Makita's 12V max CXT cordless platform. This is a battery and charger starter pack designed for powering and charging Makita 12V max CXT bare tools. If you are buying into Makita's compact cordless line without committing to a full kit, this is the piece that gets you working.

At the center of the kit is a 12V max CXT 2.0Ah Lithium-Ion slide battery. The slide-style format matters because it gives better balance and ergonomics than older pod-style designs, especially on small drills, drivers, and service tools where weight and handle feel make a real difference. Makita also builds an LED battery charge level indicator right into the pack, so you can check remaining power on the spot instead of guessing whether you have enough battery for one more task.

The included DC10WD charger is more than a basic charger. According to Makita, it communicates with the battery's built-in chip during charging and actively manages current, voltage, and temperature to help optimize battery life. That is important for anyone who uses cordless tools regularly, because battery health is what determines whether a compact cordless platform stays convenient or becomes a headache after repeated charge cycles.

Charge time is listed at 70 minutes for the included 2.0Ah battery. That puts this starter pack in a good spot for light-duty to medium-duty use where compact size matters more than all-day runtime. For punch-list work, electrical trim-out, cabinet hardware, service calls, or quick repairs around the house or shop, that balance makes sense. You get a lighter battery that is easier to live with on smaller tools, and you can keep moving with a recharge that does not eat up half the day.

From a jobsite practicality standpoint, the charger includes charging status lights so you can see charge progress without babysitting it, and it is wall mountable to help free up workbench space. Those are small details, but they matter in a van, trailer, or crowded shop where every square foot gets used. The compact battery design also keeps overall tool weight down, which is one of the main reasons users step into a 12V platform in the first place.

System compatibility is the big reason this product exists. The BL1021BDC1 starter pack is part of the expanding Makita 12V max CXT series, and it is meant to support the many CXT tools sold as bare tools. If you already own a Makita 12V max CXT bare tool and need the right power source and charger, this pack is the straightforward answer. If you are just starting with the CXT line, it is also the cleanest way to build a kit around the exact tools you want instead of paying for extras you may never use.

Who should buy it? Anyone who values a lighter, more compact cordless setup and wants genuine Makita power for the 12V max CXT platform. It makes the most sense for homeowners, maintenance techs, installers, and tradespeople who need small cordless tools for tighter spaces and shorter tasks. If you need maximum runtime for heavy production work, you may want to look at larger battery options within the platform, but if your priority is compact size, lower weight, and a legitimate entry point into Makita CXT, this starter pack does exactly what it is supposed to do.

Compact Power for Bare Tools

This starter pack solves the usual bare-tool problem right away. Instead of buying a compact Makita CXT tool and then chasing down the right battery and charger separately, you get the essentials in one package.

• Includes one 12V max CXT 2.0Ah Lithium-Ion battery and one DC10WD charger
• Built for the Makita 12V max CXT cordless platform

Know Your Charge Before You Start

The built-in LED fuel gauge is one of those features you miss when it is not there. A quick check tells you whether the battery is ready for a few screws, a service call, or a longer round of drilling and fastening.

• Integrated LED battery charge level indicator on the battery pack
• Compact slide battery design helps keep tool weight down

Smarter Charging, Less Bench Clutter

The DC10WD charger is built to handle the battery correctly, not just fill it up. It manages the charging process through the battery's built-in chip and gives you status lights so you know where things stand at a glance.

• Charges the included 2.0Ah battery in about 70 minutes
• Wall-mountable design helps free up workspace
