Overview

The Vessel 320P215 Wood-Compo Stubby Screwdriver is a compact Phillips #2 hand screwdriver built for tight-access fastening. This is a stubby screwdriver designed for driving Phillips screws in cramped spaces. Model Number: 320P215. If you work around dash panels, small access covers, electrical boxes, appliances, or other spots where a full-length driver is just too long, this is the kind of tool that earns a permanent spot in the bag.

The big story here is control. Vessel uses a wood-composite resin handle that gives you a natural, grippy feel without acting like a slick plastic handle when things get oily. That is a real advantage in automotive and maintenance work. A stubby driver only works if you can get solid pressure on the fastener, and the 1-3/8" (35 mm) grip diameter gives you enough surface to bear down and turn with confidence.

The size is what makes this screwdriver useful day to day. With a 15 mm shank length and 2-11/16" (68 mm) overall length, it is built for places where your knuckles, surrounding trim, ducting, wiring, or machine guards do not leave much room. Instead of approaching at an awkward angle with a longer driver, you can stay square to the screw and keep better engagement in the head.

The tip is a Phillips #2, which covers a huge range of common fastening work, and it is magnetic to make starts easier when you only have one hand free or when the screw is recessed. That small detail matters more on a stubby than on a standard screwdriver because access is usually the whole reason you grabbed it in the first place.

Vessel also gives the shank a black chrome plated finish for rust resistance. The product markings indicate a hardened blade, which is what you want in a daily-use screwdriver that may see stubborn screws, repeated service work, and storage in less-than-perfect conditions. This is not a disposable drawer screwdriver. It is a purpose-built compact driver meant to hold up.

The screwdriver is made in Japan, which will matter to buyers who already know Vessel's reputation in hand tools. It is an individual screwdriver, not a multi-bit tool and not a ratcheting design. That is actually part of the appeal. There is less bulk, less play, and less to get in the way when the job is simply getting a Phillips screw loose in a space that fights you.

Who should buy it? Anyone who does regular service and repair work in confined areas. Automotive techs are an obvious fit, but it also makes sense for electricians, HVAC techs, appliance repair, cabinet adjustment, and serious DIY users who are tired of making do with bargain-bin stubby drivers. If the main problem you need to solve is access, grip, and reliable tip engagement, this screwdriver makes a lot of sense.

Pro Tip

With a stubby screwdriver like this, use your palm on the back of the handle to keep the tip planted while your fingers do the turning. That works especially well here because the 1-3/8" (35 mm) grip gives you enough handle to control the screw without needing a longer shaft.

Vessel 320P215 Wood-Compo Stubby Screwdriver Is the One You Keep Nearby

This is a simple tool with a very specific job, and it does that job right: getting real grip and real screw control in places where a standard screwdriver is just too long.

• Who it's for: Techs, mechanics, service pros, and serious DIY users who regularly work around tight clearances.
• Why it stands out: The combination of oily-hand grip, magnetic Phillips #2 tip, and compact stubby size is what makes it useful instead of just small.
• Worth knowing: This is an individual fixed screwdriver, not a multi-bit tool. If you want maximum access and less bulk, that is a plus. If you need one handle for multiple tip styles, it is not that kind of tool.
