Overview

The Tajima SSSF-16/5MBW Sigma Stop With Safety Belt Holder Standard and Metric Scale 5 m Tape Measure is a compact jobsite measuring tool built for fast layout and everyday carry. This is a tape measure designed for general measuring, layout, and fit-up work in construction, remodeling, carpentry, and shop use. Model number SSSF-16/5MBW. If you want a tape that stays close at hand, reads in both standard and metric, and gives you more blade stiffness than a typical 1 inch tape, this one checks the right boxes.

The big selling point here is not just the 16.4 ft (5 m) capacity. It is how Tajima set this tape up for real use on the job. The blade is 1 inch wide and made from extra-thick steel, which gives it more stiffness than a standard 1 inch tape measure. That means better control when you are reaching across openings, checking rough dimensions, or pulling measurements without the blade folding over as quickly.

Tajima also builds this Sigma Stop tape measure around a Dual Lock Mechanism. That matters when you are trying to hold a reading where you want it, especially during repetitive layout work. Add in the Strong Tape and Strong Hook design, and you get a setup made for repeated extension, hook engagement, and return without feeling like a light-duty homeowner tape.

The dual-sided blade is another practical feature that earns its keep. With standard and metric scale markings on the same tape, this measuring tape fits jobs where drawings, hardware, or trade partners may use different units. You do not need to keep switching between tapes or mentally converting every reading when speed matters.

One of the more job-friendly details is the Safety Belt Holder. Tajima calls out one-handed attachment and detachment, and that is exactly the kind of small feature that saves time over the course of a day. When you are moving ladders, carrying material, or bouncing between measurements, a tape that clips on and off cleanly is simply easier to live with.

The stated standout is 8.2 ft (2.5 m), which is a useful number for anyone comparing this tape measure to other compact models. For many punch-list, trim, cabinet, framing, and general construction tasks, that gives you solid reach before the blade drops. Combined with the stiffer blade construction, it helps this tape work above its size in everyday measuring situations.

Who is this for? Pros who keep a tape on their belt all day and want something compact, stiff, and easy to grab. It also makes sense for serious DIY users who want a better tape measure than the usual bargain-bin option. If your work regularly shifts between metric and imperial measurements, the Tajima SSSF-16/5MBW Sigma Stop With Safety Belt Holder Standard and Metric Scale 5 m Tape Measure is the kind of upgrade you notice every day, not just on paper.
