Overview

Tajima PLC3-DR900 Snap Line Dye is a dark red chalk refill made for chalk line layout work. This is a snap line dye designed for semi-permanent marking tasks. Model Number PLC3-DR900. If you need layout lines that stay visible longer than standard temporary chalk, this is the kind of refill you reach for.

The formula is described as ultra-fine powdered chalk, which matters because fine chalk flows better through a line reel and helps produce a sharper snapped line. Tajima also calls out fade resistance, so the line stays easier to read after the snap instead of washing out right away in normal jobsite use.

For real-world work, the big selling point here is durability. This dark red marking chalk is wind resistant, water repellent, and extra strong. That makes it a better fit for exterior layout, rough framing reference lines, or any marking job where light dust, air movement, or a little moisture can ruin a weaker chalk line.

Tajima also says the chalk is formulated to prevent caking and clumping on the line. That is more important than it sounds. Clumped chalk can load unevenly, make a messy reel, and leave inconsistent marks. A smoother-flowing chalk keeps the line coating more even and makes the reel less of a headache to maintain.

The bottle design is jobsite-friendly too. It uses an easy-pour, moisture-proof bottle with a screw-cap nozzle, which helps cut down on spills during refills and helps keep the chalk usable when it is riding in a truck box, gang box, or layout bag. Since chalk performance drops fast when moisture gets into it, packaging matters almost as much as the formula.

The dark red color is a practical choice for users who want a bold line with stronger staying power than basic blue chalk. It is suited to carpenters, remodelers, roofers, general contractors, and layout crews who need clear reference lines for marking out rather than quick temporary snaps that brush away easily.

If you are doing basic indoor layout and want easy cleanup, this may be more chalk than you need. But if your priority is a sharp, bold, longer-lasting marking line from a trusted chalk line brand, this refill makes sense. It is a straightforward consumable product, but on a busy site, the right chalk line refill can save rework and keep layout readable longer.
