Key Features

Easy-To-Read Blade The bright white steel blade uses a non-reflective Hyper-Acry-Coat finish so the scale stays easier to read in changing light. That matters when you are marking quickly and do not want to second-guess the numbers. Armored Shock Protection The shock-resistant armored case and elastomer grip help this tape measure handle bumps, drops, and daily truck-to-jobsite use better than a bare plastic case. Hook Built To Last Triple-riveted end hooks and a cushioned return give the blade end better durability where tape measures usually take the most abuse.

Overview

Tajima G-16BW G-Series Standard Scale 16-ft. Tape Measure is a shock-resistant measuring tape built for everyday layout, measuring, and punch-list work. This is a tape measure designed for general measuring and marking on the jobsite, in the shop, or around the house. Model Number: G-16BW. If you want a compact 16 foot tape with a full 1 inch steel blade and a case that can take real use, this one is aimed right at that buyer.

The standout feature here is the bright white blade with Tajima's Hyper-Acry-Coat protective coating. That finish is non-reflective and made to improve scale readability, which is a practical upgrade, not a gimmick. When you are checking cuts under work lights, sunlight, or in a dim corner, being able to read the scale faster saves time and reduces mistakes.

Tajima also built this tape around durability. The G-Series housing uses a shock-resistant armored case, and the elastomer grip helps it stay comfortable in hand while adding another layer of protection against drops and jobsite knocks. For a tape measure, case durability matters because it gets clipped, tossed, dropped, and dragged into places it probably should not go.

The hook end is another area where this model makes sense for regular users. The triple-riveted end hook is designed to hold up better over time, and the cushioned end hook return helps reduce the hard snap that can beat up the hook and blade over repeated retractions. That means better long-term accuracy and less wear at one of the highest-stress points on the tape.

This Tajima tape measure uses a steel blade, includes a lock, and comes with a belt clip for carry. It is not a magnetic tape, which is worth knowing if you do steel framing or metal fabrication and specifically need magnetic grab at the hook. For wood layout, remodeling, trim work, maintenance, and general construction measuring, that will not be a dealbreaker for most users.

With a 16 foot length, 1 inch blade width, and 7.87 foot stand out, it lands in a very usable middle ground. It is long enough for common room, framing, cabinet, and trim measurements, but still compact enough to ride on your belt without feeling oversized. The 7.87 foot stand out is especially useful when you are measuring solo and need the blade to stay extended without collapsing immediately.

Who should buy it? This is a good fit for carpenters, remodelers, punch-out crews, maintenance techs, and serious DIY users who want something tougher and easier to read than a bargain-bin tape. If you are constantly reaching for a tape during the day, small upgrades like a coated blade, better hook construction, and a shock-resistant case are exactly the things you notice after a few weeks of work.

Better Readability When Speed Matters

This is the kind of measuring tape that helps you read the blade fast and move on. The bright white finish and non-reflective coating are there for one reason: clearer marks when you are measuring in real working conditions.

• 1 inch steel blade gives you a readable scale without feeling flimsy
• Hyper-Acry-Coat finish is designed to improve durability and scale visibility
• Standard scale layout makes it familiar and easy to use right away

Compact In Hand, Tough On Site

A tape measure gets used one-handed all day, so grip and impact protection matter more than people admit. Tajima gave this one an armored case with elastomer grip so it feels secure in hand and stands up better to drops and rough carry.

• Shock-resistant armored case helps protect the tape from everyday abuse
• Ergonomic grip improves control when measuring overhead or one-handed
• Weight is listed at 0.7 lbs, keeping it easy to carry on a belt

Built To Take Hook Abuse

The hook end is where cheap tapes start to loosen up and go out of character. This one uses a triple-riveted end hook plus a cushioned return to reduce wear at the point that gets slammed the hardest.

• Triple-riveted hook improves long-term durability at the blade end
• Cushioned return helps soften retraction impact
• Lockable blade gives you better control during repeat measurements
