Key Features

Extra Bold Layout Line The 1/16" (1.0 mm) braided snap line leaves a thicker, easier-to-read chalk mark than a standard line. That matters when you are laying out long runs and do not want faint lines disappearing in dust or rough material. Fast 5-Gear Rewind The five-gear winding system pulls line back quickly and smoothly, so you spend less time cranking between snaps. On repetitive layout work, that saves real time. Jobsite-Tough Body A die-cast aluminum case and gasket-sealed fill system hold up better than cheap plastic boxes. You get a chalk line that is built for daily carry, not light weekend use.

Overview

Tajima CR201W-P Chalk-Rite II Extra Bold White is a professional chalk line built for fast, accurate layout on the jobsite. This is a chalk line designed for marking straight reference lines in construction and remodeling work. Model Number: CR201W-P. If you need a line that is easier to see, rewinds quickly, and does not feel flimsy in the hand, this one checks the right boxes.

The main draw here is the extra bold 1/16" (1.0 mm) braided line. A thicker line gives you a more visible snap mark, which is especially useful when you are laying out over rough lumber, subfloor, drywall, or other surfaces where a thin line can get lost. Tajima calls this an Extra Bold snap line, and that is really the point of the tool: clear marks that are easier to follow when speed and readability matter.

The five-gear winding system is another feature that makes a difference in real use. A chalk line does not need to be complicated, but it does need to rewind cleanly and without fighting you. The fast retrieval setup on this model helps when you are snapping multiple lines in a row, whether you are doing framing layout, panel alignment, or general jobsite marking. Less crank time means less wasted motion.

Tajima also built this chalk box with a die-cast aluminum case instead of a lightweight plastic shell. That gives it a more solid feel and better long-term durability for daily use in a pouch or toolbox. The body is paired with an elastomer gasket and a gasket-sealed refill port, which helps keep chalk where it belongs and cuts down on the mess that cheaper chalk boxes are known for.

The large fill neck is worth calling out because it makes refills easier and cleaner. Anyone who has wrestled with a small refill opening knows how annoying it is to spill chalk all over the tool, the bench, or the truck. The larger opening speeds up refill time and makes this chalk line a better fit for crews who use layout tools constantly instead of once in a while.

There is also a positive gear line lock that holds the line tight during snapping and releases when winding. That is the kind of feature you appreciate more the longer you use the tool. It helps keep the line under control and makes the snapping process feel more deliberate, especially when you are working alone or stretching longer lines.

For compatibility, this Tajima chalk line is designed to work best with Tajima Micro Chalk and Tajima Snap Line Dye. Using the right refill helps keep the line feeding properly and gives you the line visibility this chalk box is meant to deliver. The 100 ft braided nylon line gives you enough reach for common framing, flooring, siding, drywall, and general layout work without stepping up to a bulkier large-capacity box.

This is a good fit for carpenters, remodelers, general contractors, and serious DIY users who want a chalk line that feels like a real jobsite tool. If you snap lines regularly and are tired of cheap chalk boxes that rewind slowly, leak, or leave weak marks, this one makes sense. If you only need a chalk line once a year, it may be more tool than you need. But for regular layout work, the stronger build and faster rewind are exactly what justify the buy.

See the Line Faster

The extra bold braided line is built for visibility. When layout marks need to stand out quickly, a thicker snap line is easier to track and easier to trust.

Refill Without the Usual Mess

• Works best with Tajima Micro Chalk and Snap Line Dye

Built for Daily Carry

This is the kind of chalk line that feels like it belongs in a contractor's pouch. The aluminum case and smooth-running rewind setup are aimed at repeat use, not occasional light duty.

Pro Tip

If you are snapping over rough framing lumber or dusty subfloor, the extra bold 1/16" (1.0 mm) line is a real advantage, but it works best when you keep the box filled with quality chalk instead of running it nearly dry. That keeps the snap mark consistent from one end of the line to the other.
