Key Features

Fast Pull-Stroke Cut The tapered 9 teeth-per-inch blade is built to cut on the pull stroke, which helps the saw track straight and stay controlled through finish work, trim, and general wood cutting. Thick, Hard Blade SK-95 high carbon steel, impulse-hardened teeth, and a 1/16" (0.9 mm) blade thickness give this folding handsaw the stiffness and edge life you want when accuracy matters. Folds for Carry The die-cast aluminum handle folds closed for safer transport and storage, while the elastomer grip gives you better control when your hands are dusty or you are working overhead.

Overview

Tajima ALOR-A240 Aluminist G-Saw - Folding Handle is a folding Japanese-style pull saw built for clean, controlled wood cutting in a portable format. This is a hand saw designed for precision cutting, trim work, and general carpentry where a power tool is overkill or access is tight. Model Number: ALOR-A240. With a 9-7/16" (240 mm), 9.4 inch blade and 9 teeth per inch, it hits a useful middle ground for contractors and serious DIY users who want faster cutting than a fine finish saw without giving up control.

The main reason guys like a saw like this is simple: pull-stroke cutting tends to feel more stable and easier to steer. On the job, that means cleaner starts, less wandering, and better control when you are cutting trim, small framing pieces, wood panels, or doing detail work that needs a straight line without dragging out a larger saw. Tajima pairs that cutting style with a tapered Fluoro-Coat blade, which helps reduce drag while adding rust and corrosion resistance. If you work in a truck, trailer, or damp shop, that coating matters.

Blade construction is where this saw earns its keep. The blade uses SK-95 high carbon steel and impulse-hardened teeth for a harder cutting edge and longer service life. Tajima also lists Japanese-style tempering for added strength. The blade thickness is 1/16" (0.9 mm), which is stiffer than a lot of light-duty folding saws. That extra rigidity helps the blade stay on line instead of flexing all over the place, especially when you are reaching into awkward spots or making longer strokes through wood.

The 9 TPI tooth pattern gives this Tajima hand saw a practical balance between speed and finish. It is not so coarse that it leaves a rough, ragged cut in typical carpentry material, and it is not so fine that progress feels slow. Tajima also calls out its alternating tooth pattern for longer-lasting edge sharpness, which lines up with what buyers want from a jobsite hand saw: cut fast, stay sharp, and keep tracking true.

The folding-handle design is a real advantage if this saw is going in a pouch, tool bag, or service van. Instead of dealing with a fixed blade and separate sheath, the blade folds into the handle for safer carry and easier storage. The handle itself is die-cast aluminum, so it keeps weight down without feeling flimsy, and the elastomer grip adds comfort and traction during longer cuts. At about 8 ounces, it is light enough to keep with you without being one more heavy tool riding around all day.

In real-world use, this kind of saw makes sense for punch-list work, remodeling, trim installation, flooring, light framing, and general woodworking. It is also a good fit for installers and service trades who need a compact hand saw that can be carried easily and deployed quickly. If you want a folding handsaw that cuts with more precision than a cheap hardware-store saw and packs smaller than a fixed-blade pull saw, this one is aimed right at you.

Controlled Cuts Without the Bulk

The Tajima ALOR-A240 Aluminist G-Saw - Folding Handle gives you the reach and cutting length of a serious hand saw without taking up fixed-blade space in your bag. It is a smart choice when you need clean, controlled cuts in wood and want something faster to grab than a power saw.

• 9-7/16" (240 mm), 9.4 inch blade gives useful stroke length for trim, boards, and detail cuts
• Pull-stroke design helps the blade stay straight and controlled through the cut

Built to Track Straight and Stay Sharp

A good folding saw is only as good as its blade. Here, Tajima backs up the compact format with real cutting hardware, not a throwaway blade that feels loose or dull after a few jobs.

• SK-95 high carbon steel blade for strength and edge performance
• Impulse-hardened, 9 TPI teeth and 1/16" (0.9 mm) blade thickness for better tracking and service life

Pro Tip

Let the Tajima pull-stroke blade do the work and keep steady, full strokes instead of forcing it on the push. That thicker 1/16" (0.9 mm) blade tracks best when you stay relaxed and use the full length of the 9-7/16" (240 mm) blade.
