Key Features

Built for Accurate Layout This Stiletto trim square is fully machined and laser etched, so your marks stay easy to read and your layout stays consistent when finish work needs to land clean the first time. Fast Common Angles Center cutouts and scribe holes help you lay out common angles, rip lines, and saw blade height without reaching for extra measuring tools. Made for Finish Work The 1/4 inch and 3/16 inch reveal gauges plus the ruled bottom heel make this a practical square for trim carpentry, casing layout, and small, precise checks around installed work.

Overview

The Stiletto STSQ4 4-1/2 in Trim Square is a compact layout square built for finish carpentry and precise trim work. This is a trim square designed for finish layout, angle marking, reveal setting, and small-part measuring. Model Number: STSQ4. If you spend your day fitting casing, dialing in reveals, or marking short rip lines where a full-size square feels clumsy, this is the square that makes more sense in your hand and in your tool belt.

What matters here is not just the size, but how much function Stiletto packed into it. The square includes scribe holes every 1/8 inch, highly visible laser-etched markings, common-angle center cutouts, and a fully ruled bottom heel. In real use, that means quicker repeatable marks, easier layout for trim pieces, and less fumbling with separate story sticks or short rulers when you are moving from door casings to small stock to saw setup.

The center cutouts are especially useful because they do more than lighten the tool. They let you lay out longer lines when ripping boards and give you direct reference points for common angles including 67.5 degrees, 45 degrees, 30 degrees, and 22.5 degrees. For a finish carpenter, remodeler, or cabinet installer, that saves time on the small layout tasks that add up over the day.

Stiletto also gave this trim square a 1/2 inch heel height with offset heel widths of 3/8 inch and 1/4 inch. That matters when you are checking placement against edges and working off trim profiles where a standard framing square is overkill. The reveal gauges at 1/4 inch and 3/16 inch are another smart touch. If you are setting door casings, those built-in gauges speed up layout and help keep reveal lines consistent from opening to opening.

Build quality is a big part of the appeal. The aluminum body keeps weight down at 0.26 lbs, so it is easy to carry all day, but the square is still fully machined for better accuracy. The hard coat anodized anti-glare finish is there for a reason too. It cuts glare under bright jobsite lighting and helps protect the laser-etched markings so they stay readable longer instead of getting washed out after hard use in a pouch or gang box.

The graduations are laid out for actual shop and jobsite work, with 1/16 inch resolution within the first inch and 1/8 inch graduations beyond that. That gives you better control for tighter trim measurements where fine detail matters most near the reference edge. It is a small design point, but it tells you this square was thought through by people who know where finish carpenters actually need precision.

This Stiletto square is made in the United States and is best suited to users who care more about layout efficiency than carrying the biggest square on the truck. It fits finish carpenters, trim crews, remodelers, cabinet installers, punch-list pros, and serious DIY users doing interior finish work. If your work is mostly framing, a larger speed square is probably the better pick. If your day is casing doors, fitting trim, marking small stock, and making quick repeatable layout marks, this one earns its spot fast.

Compact Size for Trim and Interior Work

A full-size rafter square is great for framing, but it can feel oversized when you are working around installed trim, jambs, and finished surfaces. This 4-1/2 inch trim square is easier to position where space is tight and accuracy still matters.

• Designed for finish carpentry and trim layout
• 4-1/2 inch size is easier to handle around casing and small stock
• 1/4 inch and 3/16 inch reveal gauges help speed up door casing setup

Layout Features That Save Time

The point of a tool like this is speed without giving up accuracy. Scribe holes every 1/8 inch, common-angle cutouts, and a ruled heel let you make repeat marks and quick checks with less guesswork.

• Center cutouts support common angles at 67.5, 45, 30, and 22.5 degrees
• Scribe holes every 1/8 inch help with repeated line marking
• Fully ruled bottom heel adds another measuring reference right on the tool

Offset Heel for Quick Reference

The offset heel gives you practical edge references when you are working off trim edges and narrow material. That makes it easier to register the square consistently instead of fighting to hold the tool in place while you mark.

• 1/2 inch heel height
• Offset heel widths of 3/8 inch and 1/4 inch
• 5 inch overall height with 4.5 inch square size
