Key Features

12 ft Reach When you are measuring solo, blade reach matters. The rigid 12 ft standout helps you grab marks without the tape folding over right away. Finger Brake Control The finger brake gives you better control when feeding or retracting the blade. That means fewer hard snap-backs and easier one-handed measuring on trim, framing, and layout work. Built for Wear A durable full blade coating plus 3 inches of BladeArmor at the hook helps this tape measure hold up where tapes usually get chewed up first.

Overview

The Stanley STHT37244 Control Lock 25 ft. Tape Measure is a compact measuring tape built for everyday layout, rough measuring, and punch-list work. This is a tape measure designed for jobsite measuring and general layout tasks. Model Number: STHT37244. If you want a 25 foot tape that is easy to control with one hand and easier to trust when working alone, this one is built around that idea.

The big selling point here is the 12 ft maximum reach. On the job, that means you can extend the blade farther before it collapses, which helps when you are checking room dimensions, marking studs, or reaching across sheet goods without needing a second set of hands. Stanley also calls out measurement accuracy of plus or minus 1/16 inch, which is the kind of detail that matters when you are moving from rough layout into finish work.

The Control Lock design adds a finger brake for blade control, and that is more useful than it sounds. Instead of letting the blade whip back or fighting the lock with awkward hand movement, you can feather the blade in and out with better control. For carpenters, remodelers, and serious DIY users, that makes quick repeated measurements less annoying and helps reduce wear from hard retractions.

Durability is another reason this tape stands out in the value category. The blade has a durable coating to resist abrasion from repeated use, and Stanley adds 3 inches of BladeArmor near the hook. That is the area that usually takes the most abuse from dragging over edges, catching on framing, and getting bent during fast measuring. Protecting that section helps the tape stay usable longer.

The dual-sided hook is a practical feature, not a gimmick. It lets you catch edges from either side, which speeds up measuring in tight spots, overhead work, or awkward positions where a standard hook can slip loose. Combined with the lockable design, it gives you a tape measure that is straightforward to use when you are moving quickly and do not want to fight the tool.

The housing uses ABS plastic and keeps a compact profile, so it is easy to carry in a tool belt, pocket, or hand. This is not a giant specialty tape meant for long exterior pulls. It is a general-purpose 25 foot measuring tape aimed at the trades and homeowner work where compact size, controlled blade return, and decent reach matter more than bulk.

If you are a remodeler, trim carpenter, punch-out guy, maintenance tech, or homeowner who wants a better everyday tape without overspending, this Stanley tape measure makes sense. It is especially well suited for interior measuring, framing layout, cabinet installation, and general construction work where one-handed control and blade durability pay off every day.

Measure Farther Without Fighting the Blade

A tape you actually want to keep on you gets used more, and used right. The compact housing and carry-friendly size make this a solid everyday measuring tool for interior construction, remodeling, and shop work.

• 25 ft blade length covers common room, framing, and trim measurements
• Compact design is easier to carry on a belt or in a pocket between tasks

Better Control on Retraction and Reset

The finger brake is the feature that separates this tape from a lot of basic models. It gives you a more controlled feel when extending and retracting the blade, which helps when you are working around finished surfaces or trying to hit repeat marks quickly.

• Finger brake improves blade control and one-handed operation
• Lockable blade helps hold measurements while you transfer marks

Built to Hold Up at the Hook

Most tape measures fail where the hook and first few inches take repeated abuse. Stanley reinforces that high-wear zone with BladeArmor and adds a durable blade coating to help the tape last longer under regular jobsite use.

• 3 in blade armor adds protection near the hook
• Durable blade coating helps resist abrasion from repeated use

Pro Tip

Use the finger brake to ease the blade back in instead of letting it snap home. That simple habit helps protect the hook end and keeps the first few inches of the blade in better shape over time.
