Key Features

Drill and Drive This SDS-plus drill bit driver is built for drilling the proper pilot hole in concrete and then driving the matching Titen Turbo screw with the same accessory style. That cuts down tool changes when you are setting concrete screws in volume. Right Size for 1/4 In. Screws The 3/16 in. diameter is the correct match for 1/4 in. Titen Turbo screws per Simpson Strong-Tie. If you install concrete screws regularly, that fit matters because hole size directly affects holding performance and install speed. Built for Concrete Carbide cutting edges, a hardened steel body, and a heat-treated, shot-peened finish are there for one reason: longer life in concrete drilling. You get better resistance to wear and bending than a light-duty masonry bit.

Overview

The Simpson Strong-Tie MDPL01807H-R25 3/16 in. x 7 in. SDS-plus Titen Screw Drill Bit Driver 25-Pack is a concrete drilling accessory made for installers who use Titen Turbo concrete screws and want the correct hole size ready to go. This is a masonry drill bit driver designed for concrete drilling and concrete screw installation. Model Number: MDPL01807H-R25.

This specific version uses a 3/16 in. diameter, 4-1/8 in. drilling depth, and 7 in. overall length. That size is important because Simpson Strong-Tie lists this bit as suitable for 1/4 in. diameter Titen Turbo screws. On the job, that means you are not guessing at pilot-hole size or reaching for a general-purpose masonry bit that may not match the fastener system the way it should.

The shank style is SDS-plus with hex, which is what makes this product different from a standard SDS-plus rotary hammer bit in the same MDPL family. It is built as a bit driver version for Titen screw installation work, not just raw hole making. If you are doing repeated concrete screw fastening for sill plates, brackets, clips, or general anchoring tasks, that combination is the real reason this model exists.

Simpson Strong-Tie builds the MDPL line with carbide inserts, a hardened steel body, and a chromium-nickel-molybdenum steel alloy body design for hammering quality and longer service life. The brand also notes heat treatment and a shot-peened finish to improve surface hardness, drilling speed, resistance to wear, and resistance to bending forces. Those are the details that matter when the bit is seeing repeated impact in cured concrete instead of a couple of light holes in block.

The head on this model is a 2-cutter head. For many anchor and screw-install applications, that is a practical setup because it keeps the accessory focused on clean, repeatable pilot-hole drilling without adding unnecessary bulk. Most bits in the series also use a centering tip to make spot drilling easier, which helps when you are trying to start accurately on concrete surfaces before the hammer action really gets moving.

This bit conforms to ANSI Standard B212.15 according to the series information. That matters less as a brochure line and more as a sign that you are buying from an established anchoring-system manufacturer that designs the bit around the fastener application. For concrete fastening, the bit, the hole, and the screw all need to work together. That is where system-based accessories usually make more sense than bargain-bin masonry bits.

The pack quantity is 25, so this is aimed at crews, high-volume installers, and shops that burn through concrete accessories rather than someone needing a single spare. If you are a contractor handling repetitive anchor layout, mechanical attachments, electrical clips, strut, thresholds, or general retrofit fastening into concrete, buying the 25-pack usually saves hassle compared to chasing individual replacements.

If you only need a one-off masonry bit for occasional homeowner use, this pack is probably more than you need. But if your work regularly involves concrete screw fastening and you want the correct 3/16 in. bit driver for 1/4 in. Titen Turbo screws, this is the straightforward, system-matched option.

Made for Repeated Concrete Screw Work

When you are fastening into concrete all day, the bit is not just a consumable. It is part of the anchoring system. The Simpson Strong-Tie MDPL01807H-R25 is sized and configured for repeat Titen Turbo screw installation, which helps keep hole prep consistent from anchor to anchor.

• 3/16 in. diameter matches 1/4 in. Titen Turbo screw applications called out by Simpson Strong-Tie
• SDS-plus with hex configuration is built for bit driver use in concrete fastening work

Built to Last Longer in Concrete

The materials and finish are what separate a serious concrete accessory from a throwaway bit. Simpson Strong-Tie calls out carbide inserts, hardened steel construction, and heat-treated, shot-peened finishing to improve drilling life and reduce wear.

• Hardened steel body with carbide cutting edges for masonry drilling
• Heat-treated and shot-peened surface improves hardness and resistance to bending forces

Pro Tip

If you are installing 1/4 in. Titen Turbo screws in volume, keep this 3/16 in. bit driver dedicated to that screw size instead of mixing it with general masonry bits. Consistent hole size is one of the easiest ways to avoid slow installs and poor fastener performance in concrete.

Tool Nut's Take
