Overview

The Simpson Strong-Tie HELITOOL37A Heli-Tie Fastener Installation Tool is a dedicated installation tool for Heli-Tie wall ties used in concrete and masonry repair. This is a fastener installation tool designed for installing Heli-Tie helical wall ties in restorative applications. Model Number HELITOOL37A. If you are repairing a masonry faade or tying veneer back to a structural backup, this tool is the accessory Simpson specifies for correct installation.

What sets this tool apart is that it is not a general-purpose driver bit or masonry accessory. It is specifically designed to install the Heli-Tie helical wall tie, which means it is matched to that fastening system rather than trying to make a standard drive fit a specialized anchor. For the user, that means less guesswork during installation and a setup that is aimed at doing the job the way the system was intended to be used.

One of the most important functional details is the automatic countersinking action. Simpson states that the tool automatically countersinks the fastener into the material. In real use, that matters because it helps control how the wall tie finishes at the face of the faade material, which can save time during repetitive installation and help produce a more consistent finished result across the wall.

This tool is also positioned as a time-saver for restorative work. On repair jobs, the value is not just that the tie goes in, but that it goes in with a repeatable process. When you are working through multiple ties in concrete or masonry, the right installation tool helps keep the workflow moving and reduces the need to improvise with hardware that was never built for this system.

From a design standpoint, the HELITOOL37A is a specialized metal installation accessory with a proprietary Heli-Tie drive system and a proprietary shank style. That tells you right away this is system-specific hardware, not something meant to cross over broadly into other fastening platforms. If you are buying into the Simpson Heli-Tie repair approach, this is the matching install tool for that platform.

The best fit for this product is the contractor or repair specialist doing masonry restoration, faade repair, or concrete and masonry anchoring work where Heli-Tie wall ties are part of the spec. It can also make sense for serious building repair pros who need the correct Simpson installation accessory on hand instead of trying to adapt a general-purpose tool. If you are not using Heli-Tie wall ties, this is probably too specialized. If you are, it is the right kind of dedicated accessory to have in the kit.
