Overview

The SawStop PCS31230-ATGP36 Professional 3HP Cabinet Saw with 36 Inch Professional T-Glide Advance Rip Fence, Rails & Extension Table is a full-size cabinet saw built for woodworkers who want serious cutting performance with a much stronger safety margin than a conventional table saw. This is a cabinet saw designed for precision ripping, crosscutting, and production woodworking in a dedicated shop. Model Number: PCS31230-ATGP36. If you are outfitting a professional shop, a school program, or a serious home workspace, this is the kind of machine you buy when cut quality, fence accuracy, and long-term confidence matter more than saving a few bucks up front.

At the center of the machine is a 3 horsepower, 230 volt, single phase motor package paired with a 10 inch blade platform. In practical terms, that means the saw is meant for real workload, not occasional weekend trim cuts. The cabinet saw format adds mass, stability, and smoother operation compared to lighter contractor-style saws, and the listed 505 pound assembled weight tells you this thing is built to stay planted. That extra weight is not just about bulk. It helps the saw resist vibration, hold settings better, and deliver cleaner results when you are working through hardwood, plywood, and repeated rip cuts.

The big selling point beyond raw cutting performance is the SawStop safety system. The system stops a spinning blade on contact with skin, dropping the blade below the table in less than 5 milliseconds. For anyone running a busy shop, teaching new users, or simply wanting less downside around one of the most dangerous machines in the building, that changes the conversation. You still need proper setup and technique, but this system is exactly why SawStop has become such a go-to name for cabinet saw buyers who refuse to compromise on safety.

The other major reason buyers step up to this package is the 36 inch Professional T-Glide Advance Rip Fence. A fence can make or break a table saw, and this one stands out for accuracy, versatility, ease of use, smooth operation, precision measurement, and sure lockdown without deflection. The heavy-gauge steel fence and rail assembly is built to stay square and resist flex over years of use. That matters when you are ripping face frame stock, cabinet parts, hardwood edging, or repeat-width material where a sloppy fence costs time and wood.

Build quality is another part of the story here. The trunnion and arbor are described as being built for precision, strength, and stability, and the gas piston elevation system is designed to make height adjustments smooth and easy. Table flatness is measured diagonally at a 0.01 inch maximum gap, which is exactly the kind of spec experienced woodworkers pay attention to. On a machine in this class, those details affect how confidently the saw holds alignment and how predictable it feels during fine work.

On the dust and jobsite practicality side, this saw includes a dust collection blade guard in the box, plus advanced shrouding around the blade below the table. There is also a 4 inch dust port in the dust collection setup. In a real shop, better dust handling means better visibility at the cut line, less cleanup, and less fine dust hanging in the air around your workspace. That is a big deal if the saw is going to live in a cabinet shop or home shop where it sees regular use.

This package is not just the saw body. You are getting the 36 inch fence system, rails, extension table, and cast iron extension wings, which means it is set up to give you the larger working surface and support you want from a true cabinet saw. That makes it a better fit for panel work, longer rips, and general shop production than a stripped-down base configuration. The included miter gauge, riving knife, blade, brake cartridge, and blade guard also help get the saw set up with the essentials right out of the crate.

Who should buy it? The short answer is woodworkers who will actually use what this saw offers. Professional cabinetmakers, furniture builders, school shops, millwork operations, and serious enthusiasts are the right audience. If your priority is portable convenience, this is not your saw. If your priority is a stable, accurate table saw with a proven safety system and a fence setup that can carry real shop work, the SawStop PCS31230-ATGP36 belongs on the short list.
