Key Features

Fast Heavy Cut This Mirka polishing compound is built for aggressive correction. It removes sanding scratches from P600 and finer quickly, which helps cut down polishing time on weathered or heavily marked surfaces. Restores Gloss Use it to bring back color and shine without stepping straight into a long sanding process. It is especially useful when the goal is strong cut plus a deep gloss finish in fewer steps. Clean Formula The water-based, silicone-free formula is practical for production and restoration work where cleanup matters and surface prep needs to stay predictable before the next finishing step.

Overview

Mirka POLARSHINE 45 Polishing Compound 1.1 qt (1 L) is a coarse polishing compound for fast defect removal and gloss restoration on hard surface coatings. This is a polishing compound designed for removing sanding scratches, heavy oxidation, and restoring shine on gel coat and other coated hard surfaces. Model Number: PC45-1L. If you need a compound that cuts fast but still leaves a strong finish, this is the kind of product that earns its spot on the cart.

The main reason pros reach for POLARSHINE 45 is speed. It removes sanding scratches from P600 and finer quickly and permanently. That matters when you are correcting neglected gel coat, production surfaces, or other hard finishes and do not want to waste time with a weak first-step compound that drags the whole polishing process out.

This compound is also positioned as a time-saver because it combines a coarse cut with the ability to produce a deep gloss finish. In practical terms, that means you can correct serious surface defects while still moving toward a finish that looks finished, not just cleaned up enough for the next guy. On white and light-colored gel coat surfaces, Mirka specifically calls it out as a strong one-step polishing option.

For restoration work, that balance is important. Heavy oxidation and faded surfaces often need more than a light polish, but aggressive correction products can leave the finish looking hazy if they are all cut and no control. Mirka POLARSHINE 45 is built to handle that first hard push while still restoring color and shine. That makes it a good fit for users who need real correction, not just surface-level gloss.

The formula is water-based and silicone-free, which is worth calling out because it affects both workflow and finish prep. Water-based compounds are generally easier to clean up, and a silicone-free formula is the safer choice when you do not want residue complicating later finishing or inspection. That makes this a practical pick for both production environments and restoration shops that care about repeatable results.

Mirka also targets this product toward hard surfaces and coatings, with special mention of the marine sector. That lines up with jobs like restoring oxidized gel coat, correcting sanding marks after repair work, and bringing gloss back to weathered surfaces. Supplementary data also points to use on automotive paints and composites, which makes sense for users who already understand how to match pad, pressure, and follow-up polish to the material in front of them.

One detail worth knowing before you buy: for darker colors, a second step with Mirka POLARSHINE 10 is recommended to remove swirl marks. That is not a knock on the product. It is just the honest reality of a coarse compound. If your work is mostly white and light-colored gel coat, this can simplify your process. If you work on darker finishes, plan your polishing system accordingly.

Who should buy it? This is a smart choice for marine detailers, repair shops, restoration pros, body shops, and serious DIY users dealing with oxidation, sanding scratches, and dull coated surfaces. If you need a fast-cutting polishing compound that can move from correction toward finish quality without a lot of wasted motion, Mirka POLARSHINE 45 Polishing Compound 1.1 qt (1 L) is aimed right at that job.

Cut Defects Without Dragging Out the Job

When a surface has real oxidation or visible sanding marks, a mild polish just wastes time. This compound is built to cut fast, so you can get to a corrected surface sooner and move on to refinement only when the finish actually needs it.

• Removes sanding scratches from P600 and finer
• Designed for heavy oxidation removal and gloss restoration
