Key Features

Heavy Stock Removal The P36 grit is built for aggressive sanding when you need to remove material fast instead of sneaking up on it with finer abrasives. Flexible Disc Backing The reinforced backing stays durable while still flexing over rounded surfaces, which helps the abrasive keep contact where rigid discs tend to skip. Cleaner Cutting Surface Mirka Progressive Bond dust-binding technology is designed to reduce clogging, so the Mirka Coarse Cut 6" PSA sanding disc keeps cutting longer in coarse sanding work.

Overview

The Mirka Coarse Cut 6" PSA sanding disc is a pressure sensitive adhesive abrasive disc made for aggressive surface prep and material removal. This is a sanding disc designed for coarse sanding on metal, wood, composites, plastics, and paint removal jobs. Model Number 40-341-036. If you need a disc that gets to work quickly on rough surfaces, old coatings, or heavy cleanup, this is the kind of abrasive you reach for first.

What matters here is not just that it is coarse, but how it handles coarse work. The P36 grit is set up for fast stock removal, which makes it a practical choice for stripping finishes, leveling rough surfaces, and breaking down material before moving to finer grits. On the job, that means less wasted time when the goal is to remove, flatten, or clean up material instead of chasing a finished surface too early.

Mirka builds this disc with a specially reinforced backing material, and that matters because coarse sanding is hard on abrasives. A weak disc tears up fast at the edge or loses shape when pushed across uneven surfaces. The reinforced backing helps the disc hold together under heavier pressure while still offering enough flexibility to track better on rounded workpieces and curved sections.

Another useful detail is Mirka's Progressive Bond dust-binding technology. In plain terms, the abrasive is designed to resist loading and clogging during sanding. That is especially important in paint removal, resinous woods, fillers, and synthetic materials where dust can pack into the abrasive quickly and kill cut speed. Less clogging usually means more consistent cutting and fewer disc changes through a job.

This 6 inch PSA sanding disc fits sanding setups that use a pressure sensitive adhesive attachment style. If you already run PSA-backed abrasives, this gives you a straightforward option for rough sanding without changing your workflow. The 6 inch size is a standard, useful format for broad surface work where you want enough coverage to move efficiently across panels, boards, or metal surfaces.

Material range is one of the strong points of this disc. Mirka lists it for steel, mild steel, non-ferrous metal, stainless steel, cast iron, pine, hardwood, soft and resinous wood, MDF and HDF, chipboard, plastics, glass fibre, synthetic materials, lacquers, and paint stripping or removal. That makes it a solid fit for fabrication shops, body and paint prep, woodworking, remodeling, and general surface prep where one coarse abrasive needs to cover a lot of different tasks.

Who should buy it? Pros and serious DIY users who need real cutting action, not finish sanding. If your work starts with stripping, leveling, cleaning corrosion, knocking down rough wood, or prepping mixed materials before the next abrasive step, this disc makes sense. If you are after final finish quality, this is not the grit for that stage, but it is exactly the right place to start when the surface is rough and time matters.

Mirka Coarse Cut 6" PSA Sanding Disc Means Business

This is the disc you grab when the surface is ugly and you want it cleaned up fast.

• Who it's for: Anyone doing heavy prep work on wood, metal, composites, or old finishes before moving into finer sanding steps.
• Why it stands out: The reinforced backing, broad material range, and clog-resistant design make it more useful than a basic coarse disc that gives up early.
• Worth knowing: This is a roughing abrasive, not a finish abrasive, so plan to follow it with finer grits once the heavy removal work is done.
