Key Features

Dust Through the Disc The open mesh abrasive lets dust pass through the whole sanding surface instead of loading up around fixed holes. That means cleaner sanding and better dust pickup when paired with a vacuum-equipped sander. Fits 6-Inch Sanders These Mirka mesh sanding discs are built for 6-inch sanding machines and sanding blocks, so you can swap discs fast without worrying about matching hole patterns. 180 Grit Control The 180 grit cut is a solid choice for surface prep and refining work where you want a cleaner finish than coarse stock removal, but still need the disc to keep working without clogging early.

Overview

The Mirka 9A-241-180 6-Inch Mesh Sanding Discs are hook and loop abrasive discs built for cleaner surface prep, longer disc life, and fast disc changes on 6-inch sanders. This is a mesh sanding disc designed for dust-reduced sanding on wood, fillers, primers, lacquers, plastics, composite materials, and similar surfaces. Model Number: 9A-241-180.

What sets the Mirka Abranet line apart is the net-style abrasive structure. Instead of relying on a few punched dust holes, the abrasive surface is open across the whole disc, so dust has more ways to escape. On the job, that matters because loaded paper stops cutting, runs hotter, and leaves you changing discs sooner than you should. With a proper vacuum setup, these discs help keep the work area cleaner and the abrasive cutting more consistently.

The 6-inch diameter fits common orbital sanding platforms and sanding blocks, and the hook and loop backing keeps swaps quick when you're moving through prep stages. For shops and contractors who change abrasives all day, that simple detail saves time. The mesh format also means hole alignment is less of a headache than it is with traditional paper discs.

This particular version uses 180 grit aluminum oxide abrasive, which puts it in a useful middle zone for refining surfaces, leveling filler, and preparing material for the next finish step. It is not your heavy-stripping grit, and it is not your ultra-fine finish grit either. It is the kind of sanding disc you reach for when you need a controlled cut and a more even scratch pattern before moving finer.

Mirka positions these discs for multi-material sanding, including wood, automotive finishes, plastics, drywall compounds, wall putty, primers, lacquers, and composite materials. That broad material range makes them a practical shop consumable if your work changes from cabinet parts to bodywork to general finish prep. One box gives you 50 discs, so you're set up for repeat work rather than grabbing a few singles at a time.

For users who care about worksite cleanup, the real advantage is how these mesh sanding discs work with dust extraction. Less airborne dust makes cleanup easier and helps visibility while sanding, especially on fillers and fine finishing work where a dusty surface hides what you're actually doing. If you're already using a vacuum-ready random orbital sander, this design makes a lot of sense.

Who should buy these? Painters, drywall finishers, auto body techs, woodworkers, remodelers, and serious DIY users who want cleaner sanding and fewer clogged discs. If you burn through standard hook and loop sanding discs because they pack up too fast, the Mirka 9A-241-180 6-Inch Mesh Sanding Discs are the smarter consumable.

Cleaner Sanding With Less Clogging

The mesh abrasive design helps this sanding disc keep cutting when conventional paper discs would already be loading up. That means more consistent sanding across longer passes and fewer stops to swap discs before they are actually spent.

• Open mesh construction allows dust to pass through the sanding surface
• Aluminum oxide abrasive is built for multi-surface prep work
• Hook and loop backing speeds up disc changes on 6-inch sanders

Tool Nut's Take

Tool Nut's Take

Mirka 9A-241-180 6-Inch Mesh Sanding Discs Make Sense If You Hate Loaded Paper

This is the kind of sanding consumable that earns its keep by staying cleaner, cutting longer, and making dust extraction actually worthwhile.

• Who it's for: Anyone running a 6-inch orbital sander for finish prep, filler shaping, primer work, woodworking, or auto body sanding.
• Why it stands out: The mesh abrasive format is the big deal here. You are not tied to a fixed hole pattern, and the disc is built to resist clogging better than standard paper discs.
• Worth knowing: This is a box of 50 discs, not a mixed grit pack. At 180 grit, it is best as a refining and prep step, not your first choice for aggressive material removal.
