Key Features

Built for Impact This 3/8-inch drive impact socket set is made for impact wrenches, impact drivers, ratchets, and adapters. If you need sockets that hold up under repeated high torque use, this is the right setup. Forged Steel Strength The 6-point design and forged impact steel construction are built to handle stubborn fasteners without giving up durability. That matters when you are working on rusted hardware or production fastening. Easy to Read Sizes Stamped and ink-filled size markings stay readable longer than basic laser-only markings. That saves time when you are grabbing the right deep metric socket off the rail.

Overview

The Milwaukee SHOCKWAVE 3/8 in. Drive Metric Deep Well 6 Point Impact Socket Set (14-Piece), model 49-66-7008, is a deep metric impact socket set for mechanics, industrial maintenance techs, pipefitters, and anyone using 3/8-inch drive impact tools on a regular basis. This is a deep impact socket set designed for high torque fastening and loosening with 3/8-inch drive impact wrenches and ratchets. The big draw here is simple: you get a full spread of common metric deep sockets on a rail, built from forged impact steel, with markings that are meant to stay readable through real shop and jobsite use.

Milwaukee gives this set 14 deep metric sockets in sizes 7 mm, 8 mm, 9 mm, 10 mm, 11 mm, 12 mm, 13 mm, 14 mm, 15 mm, 16 mm, 17 mm, 18 mm, 19 mm, and 21 mm. That size range covers a lot of everyday fastening work on equipment, vehicles, machinery, and general assembly. Because they are deep sockets, they are better suited for nuts on longer studs and for spots where a standard shallow socket just will not reach far enough.

The 6-point socket design matters more than it sounds. On impact work, a 6-point shape gives better contact on the flats of the fastener, which helps reduce rounding compared to looser-fitting designs. Milwaukee also calls out its non-slip hex geometry, which is aimed at protecting both the socket and the fastener under repeated impact use. If you spend time dealing with corroded hardware or tight fasteners, that extra grip is not a throwaway feature.

Milwaukee built these SHOCKWAVE sockets from forged impact steel for durability in high torque applications. In plain terms, this is the material and construction you want in an actual impact socket set, not a chrome hand-tool socket pressed into impact duty. The dual hole design and ring groove also make attachment and removal easier on compatible tools, which is a practical benefit when you are changing sockets often and do not want to fight the anvil every time.

Another strong point is identification. The stamped and ink-filled diameter markings are made for wear resistance, and Milwaukee also includes laser-etched part numbers. On a busy bench, in a service truck, or under a machine, quick size identification saves more time than most people admit. This set is built around that reality. You are not squinting at worn markings after a season of use.

Storage is handled by a customizable socket rail with interchangeable clips and removable end caps. That gives you some flexibility in how the set is organized, especially if you want to rearrange sizes or adapt the rail to your workflow. It is a small detail, but it helps keep deep sockets together and easier to grab than dumping them loose in a drawer.

Compatibility is straightforward. This Milwaukee impact socket set is intended for 3/8-inch drive impact wrenches, drivers, ratchets, and adapters, including cordless, corded, and pneumatic setups. That makes it a good fit for users already running 3/8-inch drive impact tools who need a dedicated metric deep socket set that matches the abuse level of the tool.

If you are a pro mechanic, industrial tech, or serious DIY user who wants a durable metric deep impact socket set instead of piecing sockets together one by one, this set makes sense. If you need SAE sizes or shallow sockets, look elsewhere. But if your work leans metric and you want a clean 14-piece deep set with rail storage, forged steel construction, and a lifetime guarantee on the sockets and extensions, this is a practical buy.
