Key Features

Forged for Impact These sockets are made from forged impact steel for high torque work. That matters when you are running them on impact wrenches and ratchets instead of babying them on light-duty hand tools. 1/4 in Drive Control The Milwaukee 49-66-7002 14-Piece SHOCKWAVE 1/4-Inch Metric Standard 6-Point Socket Set is built for small fasteners where fit matters. The 6-point design grips flats better to help reduce rounding on worn or stubborn hardware. Easy Size Reads Stamped and ink-filled markings stay readable longer than basic laser-only markings. You spend less time hunting for the right metric socket and more time turning fasteners.

Overview

The Milwaukee 49-66-7002 14-Piece SHOCKWAVE 1/4-Inch Metric Standard 6-Point Socket Set is a metric impact socket set built for fastening and removal work with compact drive tools. This is a socket set designed for high torque fastening and mechanical service using 1/4 inch drive impact wrenches, drivers, ratchets, and adapters. Model Number 49-66-7002. If you need a small-drive metric set that can handle real impact use instead of occasional light-duty work, this is the kind of set you keep within reach.

What makes this set matter is not just the piece count. Milwaukee built these sockets with forged impact steel and a 6-point opening, which is the right call for protecting fasteners in high torque applications. The 6-point design grabs the flat sides of the fastener better than a looser fit profile, helping reduce rounding when you are dealing with tight hardware, rusty bolts, or repeated service work. On smaller metric fasteners, that cleaner grip is a big deal because once a head rounds off, the job gets slow in a hurry.

The markings are another real-world benefit. Each socket uses stamped and ink-filled size markings for wear resistance, so you can identify the size faster even after the set has been in a bag, drawer, or truck for a while. Milwaukee also adds laser etched part numbers. That sounds small until you are sorting tools at the end of the day or replacing a missing piece. For anyone doing repetitive maintenance, assembly, or repair work, readable markings save time every single shift.

The attachment design is set up for impact use too. A dual-hole design and ring groove make it easier to secure the socket and remove it when the work is done. That helps when you are moving between tools or changing sizes often. The included socket rail also adds some practical value here. It uses interchangeable clips and removable end caps so you can customize the layout instead of being stuck with a fixed organizer that never fits the way you work.

Compatibility is straightforward and useful. This set is optimized for 1/4 inch drive impact wrenches, impact drivers used with the proper adapters, ratchets, and adapters across cordless, corded, and pneumatic setups. That makes it a versatile metric fastening set for techs, mechanics, installers, and anyone who already runs 1/4 inch drive tools. The included sizes cover 4 mm through 15 mm, including 4.5 mm and 5.5 mm, which fills in some of the smaller metric sizes that are easy to miss in basic sets.

Who should buy it? Anyone doing automotive trim and interior work, equipment maintenance, small fastener service, panel hardware, hose clamp and bracket work, or general metric repair where a compact drive size makes more sense than jumping to 3/8 inch. It is also a smart add-on for pros who already own larger impact socket sets but want a dedicated 1/4 inch metric set that is easy to organize and easy to read. If your work involves smaller metric hardware and you want impact-ready durability instead of a throw-in-the-drawer socket rail, this set earns its keep.

• Why it stands out: Forged impact steel, readable stamped and ink-filled markings, a true 6-point design, and a customizable rail make it more practical than bargain-bin socket sets.
