Better Grip on Fittings The flare nut wrench head uses 6-point contact to grab more of the fastener than a typical open-end wrench. That matters on brake, fuel, and line fittings where rounded corners turn a quick job into a fight. Easy Size ID Ink-filled size markings are easy to pick out in the drawer or on the cart. You spend less time squinting at polished steel and more time getting the right wrench on the fitting. Milwaukee Flare Nut Wrench Set Access Slim profile open ends help this Milwaukee flare nut wrench set reach tighter spots around tubing, valves, and crowded engine bays. The I-beam handle keeps it comfortable when you need to lean on it.

Overview

The Milwaukee 48-22-9470 5pc Double End Flare Nut Wrench Set - SAE is a 5-piece SAE flare nut wrench set built for working on line fittings without chewing them up. This is a flare nut wrench set designed for turning brake line, fuel line, hydraulic, and other tube-style fittings where a standard open-end wrench can slip or round the flats. Model Number: 48-22-9470. If you work on vehicles, small equipment, or mechanical systems with tubing connections, this set covers the sizes you actually reach for.

What makes a flare nut wrench worth buying is simple: grip and access. Milwaukee gives this set slim profile open ends for tighter clearance, plus 6-point contact for a more secure fit on fittings. That combination matters when the line nut is tucked beside a bracket, buried in an engine bay, or already a little corroded. You get more contact than a basic open-end wrench, which helps reduce slipping and helps you keep the fitting usable.

Milwaukee also did the small stuff right. The size labels are ink-filled, so you can identify each wrench quickly instead of hunting for a faint stamped marking on polished chrome. On busy service work, that saves time. The I-beam handle design gives you a comfortable grip when you need extra hand pressure, especially on stubborn fittings that have not moved in years.

The wrenches are made from chrome vanadium steel and finished with chrome plating for rust protection. That is the right material choice for a hand tool set that may live in a service cart, garage, or truck box and see exposure to moisture, oil, and general grime. Chrome plating also helps with cleanup after greasy work and keeps the set looking decent after regular use.

This set is organized around practical storage, not just the tools themselves. Milwaukee includes a hard storage tray so the five double-end wrenches stay sorted and visible. That is useful in a mechanic's drawer or portable setup because flare nut wrenches are not something you want mixed into a pile of standard combination wrenches when you need one in a hurry.

Included sizes are well chosen for common SAE line work: 1/4 inch x 5/16 inch, 3/8 inch x 7/16 inch, 1/2 inch x 9/16 inch, 5/8 inch x 11/16 inch, and 3/4 inch x 7/8 inch. That gives you coverage across a range of tubing and fitting service tasks without buying individual pieces one at a time. For anyone doing brake service, fuel system repair, hydraulic maintenance, or general mechanical work on SAE hardware, this is the kind of set that earns a permanent spot in the drawer.

Bottom line: this is for the user who knows why a flare nut wrench matters. If you work around tubing fittings often enough to be tired of rounded nuts and skinned knuckles, the Milwaukee 48-22-9470 5pc Double End Flare Nut Wrench Set - SAE is a straightforward upgrade from making do with standard open-end wrenches.

Pro Tip

If a line fitting is already starting to round, go straight to the correct flare nut wrench size instead of trying a standard open-end first. On stubborn brake and fuel fittings, that extra contact is usually the difference between breaking it loose cleanly and turning a simple repair into a replacement job.
