Overview

The Milwaukee PACKOUT 16QT Compact Cooler, Model 48-22-8460, is a hard-sided compact cooler built for jobsite food and drink storage inside the Milwaukee PACKOUT system. This is a compact cooler designed for keeping ice, drinks, and lunch cold while moving with your modular storage setup. If you already run PACKOUT boxes, drawers, or rolling storage, this gives you a cleaner way to carry cold items without tossing a separate cooler in the truck.

What makes this cooler worth a look is how it blends cooler performance with jobsite practicality. Milwaukee rates it to hold ice for over 30 hours, which is the spec most buyers care about first. In real terms, that means it is built for a full workday and then some, not just the morning. The 16-quart capacity is sized for everyday use, and Milwaukee also states it holds up to 20 cans. That compact footprint matters when space in the van, cab, or gang box is tight.

The body is constructed with impact-resistant polymers, so this is not a soft lunch cooler meant for occasional use. It is designed to take the bumps, loading, unloading, and stacking that come with daily work. Milwaukee also lists a 50 lb weight capacity, along with heavy-duty latches and a reinforced hinge. Those details matter because weak hinges and cheap latches are usually what kill coolers first. Here, the hardware is built more like tool storage than weekend camping gear.

Milwaukee gives this model an IP65 rating with a weather seal, which is a big advantage for rough environments. That means added protection against dust and jobsite debris, plus better resistance to wet conditions. The no-sweat exterior is another practical touch. It helps keep the outside from getting slick or dripping all over seats, floors, or stacked PACKOUT boxes underneath.

The layout is straightforward and useful. Inside, there is an organizer tray to keep smaller items separated from ice and drinks. That makes it easier to pack lunch, cold packs, or snacks without everything ending up soaked. There is also an integrated bottle opener on the cooler, which is a small feature but one that people end up using more than they expect, especially on long days, tailgates, or jobsite breaks.

Compatibility is a major reason to buy this model over a generic compact cooler. The Milwaukee PACKOUT 16QT Compact Cooler is part of the PACKOUT Modular Storage System and features modular connectivity with all PACKOUT components. That means it can move with the rest of your stack instead of riding loose. For contractors, service techs, remodelers, and anyone who already invested in PACKOUT, that is the real value: one system, one load-in, less clutter.

This cooler makes the most sense for pros who want cold storage that matches the rest of their transport setup, plus serious DIY users who treat their organization the same way. It is a strong fit for electricians, plumbers, HVAC techs, maintenance crews, general contractors, and mobile service work where gear gets loaded and unloaded constantly. If you just need the cheapest cooler for occasional use, this is more than you need. If you want a Milwaukee cooler that works like jobsite equipment, this one is built for exactly that.
