Key Features

100 lb Capacity Big tools, fittings, and supplies add up fast. This box is built to carry up to 100 pounds, so you can load it for real work instead of babying it between the truck and the jobsite. Jobsite Protection The impact-resistant body, reinforced corners, and IP65-rated seal help protect what is inside from rain, dust, and the usual abuse that comes with daily transport and stacking. PACKOUT System Fit The Milwaukee 48-22-8423 PACKOUT XL Tool Box connects with the full PACKOUT system, which matters if you want one stack that rolls together, stores together, and keeps loose gear from turning into a mess.

Overview

The Milwaukee 48-22-8423 PACKOUT XL Tool Box is a modular jobsite storage box built for contractors, service techs, and serious DIY users who need more room than a standard toolbox gives them. This is a modular tool box designed for transporting and protecting larger tool loads on the jobsite. Model Number: 48-22-8423. If you already run PACKOUT or want to start with a larger base storage piece, this one gives you the size, protection, and stackability that make the system useful day to day.

The headline spec here is the 100 lb weight capacity, and that matters because an XL tool box only earns its keep if it can actually carry heavy gear without feeling flimsy. Milwaukee pairs that capacity with an impact-resistant polymer body, metal-reinforced corners, and a metal-reinforced locking point, so this is not just a big empty box. It is built to handle the knocks, drops, and sliding around that happen in trailers, vans, and unfinished spaces.

Weather protection is another big reason people buy into this box. The IP65-rated seal is there to help keep rain and jobsite debris out of the storage area. For anyone moving tools between the truck and an exposed work area, that is a practical feature, not brochure filler. It gives you a better shot at keeping batteries, hand tools, meters, fasteners, and layout gear cleaner and drier when conditions are not ideal.

Milwaukee also got the carry points right. The metal-reinforced top handle is built for repeated lifting, and the heavy-duty latches are the kind of detail you appreciate after months of use. On storage products, latch quality and handle strength matter more than people think. Those are the parts you touch every day, and they are usually the first parts to show weakness on cheaper boxes.

Inside, the box includes an interior organizer tray, which is a simple but useful addition. It gives smaller items a place to live up top instead of getting buried under larger tools and materials. That is especially helpful in an XL tool box, where open storage is great for capacity but can get disorganized fast if there is no way to separate the small stuff from the bulky stuff.

The other reason this model matters is system compatibility. This box is part of the Milwaukee PACKOUT modular storage system and connects with all PACKOUT components. That means it can be used as part of a larger rolling setup for transport or as a dedicated storage module in the shop, van, or site box arrangement. If you are building a repeatable system instead of hauling a random pile of cases, that modular connection is the whole point.

In terms of size, this is a large-format storage piece with published dimensions around 22 in. wide, 16 in. deep, and about 17 in. high, with a listed storage volume of 3,876 cubic inches. That puts it in the category of boxes that make sense for bulkier hand tools, larger cordless tools, accessories, and mixed kits that do not fit cleanly in slimmer organizers.

Who should buy it? This box makes the most sense for users who need durable modular storage more than they need a tiny grab-and-go case. General contractors, electricians, plumbers, HVAC crews, remodelers, and mobile service techs will get the most out of it, especially if they already use PACKOUT. If you want a lightweight plastic box for a few screwdrivers, this is overkill. If you want one large storage box that stacks, seals, and takes abuse, this is exactly the point of the Milwaukee 48-22-8423 PACKOUT XL Tool Box.

Carry More Without Giving Up Durability

This PACKOUT tool box is built for users who need one larger storage box instead of juggling multiple smaller cases. The XL format gives you room for bulkier tools and mixed gear while keeping the strength needed for daily loading, unloading, and stacking.

• 100 lb weight capacity for heavier tool and material loads
• Impact-resistant polymer body built for rough jobsite handling
• Metal-reinforced top handle, corners, and locking point for higher-wear areas

Fits Into a Real Modular Storage System

The big advantage is not just storage space. It is that this box locks into the larger PACKOUT platform, so your setup moves as one organized stack instead of a pile of separate boxes tipping around in the truck or on site.

• Compatible with all PACKOUT modular storage components
• Useful as a larger base storage box in a rolling stack
• Interior organizer tray helps keep smaller parts from getting buried
