Key Features

Complete Ratcheting Cycle The ratcheting mechanism helps the Milwaukee 48-22-3084 Ratcheting Insulated Terminals Crimper finish the crimp before release. That gives you more consistent results and better pull-off strength on insulated terminals. Three Crimp Cavities Built-in cavities cover 22-18 AWG, 16-14 AWG, and 12-10 AWG insulated terminals. That means one hand tool handles the common sizes electricians and low-voltage techs reach for every day. Faster Setup, Less Guessing High-contrast color-coded markings, a crimping force adjustment dial, and a quick-release lever make this insulated terminal crimper easier to set up and easier to correct if you need to back out of a crimp.

Overview

The Milwaukee 48-22-3084 Ratcheting Insulated Terminals Crimper is a hand crimping tool built for installing insulated wire terminals on stranded copper wire. This is a ratcheting insulated terminal crimper designed for secure terminal fastening in electrical and data communication work. Model Number: 48-22-3084. If you need repeatable crimps without fighting a basic squeeze-style tool, this is the kind of upgrade that makes sense right away.

The big advantage here is the compound ratcheting action. Instead of relying on hand feel alone, the tool runs through a complete crimping cycle to help maintain strong terminal pull-off force. In plain terms, that means a more reliable crimp and less chance of a loose connection because the tool was released too early. Milwaukee also gives you three crimping cavities, so you can handle 22-18 AWG, 16-14 AWG, and 12-10 AWG insulated terminals with one tool instead of bouncing between multiple crimpers.

Milwaukee kept the layout practical. The high-contrast color-coded markings make it easier to match terminal size quickly, especially when you're moving fast at the bench or in a service van. The crimping force adjustment dial matters too. If you're working across different terminals and want to fine-tune the squeeze, that feature gives you more control than a fixed-force tool. The quick-release lever is another detail that saves frustration, because you can reset the tool without forcing the cycle if something is off before you finish the crimp.

From a build standpoint, this is a straightforward steel-and-rubber hand tool with straight ergonomic handles. At 8.54 inches long and 1.08 pounds, it has enough size to give you leverage without feeling oversized in a pouch or drawer. The handle shape is meant for repeated use, which matters on jobs where you're terminating wire all day, not just making one or two repairs. This is the kind of tool that earns its spot when consistency matters more than getting by with a multi-purpose plier.

Application-wise, the Milwaukee 48-22-3084 Ratcheting Insulated Terminals Crimper is made to crimp insulated terminals onto 10-22 AWG stranded copper wire. That puts it right in the wheelhouse for electrical work, panel wiring, controls, low-voltage installs, and general service work where insulated terminals are common. Because the cavity sizes are clearly identified by color, it is easier to match red, blue, and yellow insulated terminals to the right position and keep mistakes down.

Who should buy it? Electricians, maintenance techs, controls installers, automotive techs, and serious DIY users who want better consistency than bargain crimpers usually deliver. If you only crimp a terminal once in a while, a cheap tool might get you through. If you do it often and want clean, repeatable results with less second-guessing, this Milwaukee crimper is the better call.

Dial In More Consistent Terminal Crimps

This ratcheting crimper is built to take some of the guesswork out of terminal work. The complete crimp cycle helps you get uniform compression, which is exactly what you want when the connection needs to hold.

• Compound action is designed to provide complete crimps
• Crimping force adjustment dial lets you fine-tune the squeeze
• Quick-release lever gives you a way out if you need to reset before finishing

Match Terminal Sizes Faster

When you're switching between terminal sizes, clear markings matter. Milwaukee added high-contrast color coding so you can line up red, blue, and yellow insulated terminals with the right cavity without slowing down.

• Three cavities cover 22-18 AWG, 16-14 AWG, and 12-10 AWG insulated terminals
• Designed for use on 10-22 AWG stranded copper wire
• Straight ergonomic handles help during repeated crimping work
