Key Features

Built for Abuse The reinforced full-metal core and forged steel shank are built for the kind of demolition work that kills a standard screwdriver fast. When you are prying, chiseling, or striking, this setup gives you better durability where it matters. Hammer-Ready Cap The strike cap is made to take repeated hammer blows, so this demolition screwdriver can handle more than turning screws. That makes it useful when you need one hand tool to loosen, chip, or start material removal. Extra Leverage The wrench-ready shank gives you another way to put torque on stubborn fasteners. Pair that with the large prying and chiseling tip and the Milwaukee 48-22-2859 Demolition Driver becomes more useful than a basic slotted screwdriver.

Overview

The Milwaukee 48-22-2859 Demolition Driver is a heavy-duty demolition screwdriver made for rough jobsite use. This is a demolition screwdriver designed for prying, chiseling, striking, and driving slotted fasteners in aggressive tear-out and repair work. Model Number 48-22-2859. If a regular flat blade screwdriver is not holding up to the way you actually use it, this is the step up.

What sets this tool apart is how Milwaukee built it around abuse instead of light-duty fastening. The reinforced full-metal core adds strength through the body of the tool, while the forged steel shank is there for longer service life under repeated impact and leverage. On the job, that means less flex, less chance of twisting out a lesser shank, and more confidence when the tool is doing double duty as a scraper, pry tool, or starter chisel.

The hammer-ready steel strike cap matters because this driver is clearly meant to be hit. Whether you are breaking loose painted trim, opening up a seam, or working material apart during demolition, the strike cap lets you use a hammer without babying the handle. Milwaukee also calls out the large prying and chiseling tip, which makes sense here because this tool is built for the kind of work where the tip has to survive contact with wood, fasteners, and stubborn material instead of just screw slots.

The wrench-ready square shank is another feature that earns its place. When a slotted fastener is seized up, you can put a wrench on the shank for added turning force instead of relying only on hand pressure. That is the kind of practical detail that saves time when you are pulling apart old assemblies, working on weathered exterior material, or dealing with hardware that has not moved in years.

Milwaukee also added ribbed handle indents for grip, which helps when your gloves are dusty or the work is awkward. At 11.3 inches overall with a 5 inch shaft length, it gives you enough reach for common demolition and service work without getting overly bulky. The 0.55 lb weight keeps it substantial enough to feel planted in hand while still being easy to carry in a pouch or toolbox.

This is not a precision cabinet screwdriver, and it is not trying to be. It is for contractors, remodelers, maintenance techs, carpenters, and serious DIY users who routinely push a flat blade tool past simple screwdriving. If your work includes tear-out, trim removal, rough opening work, or freeing stuck slotted screws, the Milwaukee 48-22-2859 Demolition Driver makes a lot more sense than sacrificing a standard screwdriver every few weeks.

Made for Real Demolition Work

This tool is built for the kind of work that usually ruins a standard screwdriver. The strike cap and heavy-duty shank let you use it for material separation and rough removal without treating it like a fragile hand tool.

• Hammer-ready steel strike cap for impact use
• Forged steel shank built for longer life under hard use

Get More Leverage on Stuck Fasteners

When an old slotted screw refuses to move, extra torque makes the difference. The wrench-ready square shank gives you a practical way to add turning force without chewing up the handle or slipping off the tool.

• Wrench-ready shank helps break loose stubborn hardware
• Slotted drive style for common flat head fasteners

Heavy-Duty Shape, Everyday Carry Size

The dimensions are straightforward, but the layout matters. You get enough length for reach and leverage while keeping the tool easy to store in a pouch, service bag, or hand tool drawer.

Pro Tip

If you are breaking loose an old slotted fastener, seat the blade fully, lean into the handle, and use a wrench on the square shank for controlled extra torque before you start hammering on the tool. It is a cleaner move and usually gives you a better shot at saving the screw slot.
