Overview

The Milwaukee 48-11-2460 M12 REDLITHIUM XC 6.0Ah Extended Capacity Battery Pack is a 12 volt lithium-ion battery built for Milwaukee M12 cordless tools. This is a battery pack designed for powering Milwaukee M12 cordless tools with longer runtime and stronger sustained output than standard compact packs. Model Number: 48-11-2460. If you use M12 tools regularly and want fewer battery changes through the day, this is one of the upgrades that actually changes how long you can stay on task.

What matters most here is capacity. With 6.0 amp-hours on tap, this pack is aimed at users who run lights, installation tools, inspection tools, fastening tools, and other M12 gear long enough to notice downtime. Milwaukee states this battery delivers up to 3X more runtime, 20% more power, and 2X more recharges than standard lithium-ion batteries. In real use, that means better staying power on repeated cycles and less drop-off as the job moves along.

The internal electronics are a big part of the story. REDLINK intelligence manages communication between the battery, tool, and charger to optimize performance and provide overload protection. That matters when a compact cordless tool gets leaned on harder than usual. Instead of just acting like a fuel tank, the pack is actively helping manage heat and load so you are less likely to damage the battery or the tool in demanding use.

Milwaukee also built this pack for jobsite abuse, not bench-top demos. The pack is designed to run cooler, includes an integrated temperature management system, and uses individual cell monitoring to help extend service life. The manufacturer also calls out all-weather performance down below 0 degrees Fahrenheit. If you work in cold garages, service vans, exterior punch-list work, or winter remodel conditions, that is not a throwaway spec. It directly affects whether your tools keep producing consistent power when the temperature drops.

Physically, this is still a compact enough battery for tight work areas. At 3.47 inches long, 2.62 inches wide, 4.35 inches high, and 0.88 pounds, it adds runtime without turning a small M12 tool into something clumsy. The extended-capacity format is a good fit when you want more balance under the base of the tool and less time walking back to the charger. Milwaukee also highlights durable pack construction for long-term use, which is what you want from a battery that is likely to stay in heavy rotation.

System fit is straightforward. This battery is made for the Milwaukee M12 platform and powers more than 70 M12 cordless solutions. If you already own M12 drills, impact drivers, lights, ratchets, inspection tools, or service trade tools, the XC 6.0 pack is an easy way to get more runtime out of the system you already have. Recharge time is listed at 134 minutes on a standard charger and 103 minutes on a rapid or super charger, so you can plan around the charger you already own.

Who should buy it? This battery makes the most sense for electricians, HVAC techs, service plumbers, maintenance crews, remodelers, and serious DIY users who rely on M12 because it is compact and easy to carry. It is especially useful for anyone running higher-demand M12 tools or working long stretches away from an outlet. If you only grab an M12 tool for the occasional quick fix, a smaller pack may be enough. But if runtime and fewer interruptions are the goal, this is the battery many users end up preferring.

More Work Between Charges

If your M12 setup is doing real work every day, battery swaps get old fast. This extended-capacity battery pack is built to keep smaller cordless tools running longer without giving up the portability that makes the M12 platform useful in the first place.

• 6.0 amp-hour capacity for longer runtime on M12 tools
• Compact 12 volt lithium-ion format sized for tight spaces and mobile work
