More Work Per ChargeThis Milwaukee battery is built to stretch runtime with a 5.0 Ah pack. It is a practical upgrade when your M18 tools are working hard and you do not want to stop for swaps as often. Onboard Fuel GaugeThe built-in charge indicator shows remaining runtime at a glance. That helps you plan battery changes before you are stuck on a ladder, in a crawlspace, or halfway through a cut. Overview

The Milwaukee M18 REDLITHIUM XC5.0 Extended Capacity Battery Pack is a rechargeable 18V lithium-ion battery pack for Milwaukee M18 cordless tools. This is a battery pack designed for powering cordless drilling, fastening, cutting, and demolition tools on the Milwaukee M18 platform. Model Number 48-11-1850. If you are trying to get longer runtime from your impact driver, drill, grinder, reciprocating saw, or circular saw without stepping up to a larger high-output pack, this is the standard 5.0 Ah battery a lot of pros keep in regular rotation.

Milwaukee rates this pack at 5.0 amp hours, and the whole point of that number is simple: more usable runtime before you need a swap. The brand also states this battery delivers up to 2.5X more runtime, 20% more power, and 2X more recharges than standard lithium-ion batteries. On the job, that means fewer interruptions and better consistency when your tool starts seeing real load instead of light-duty bench work.

What makes this battery more than just a plastic box with cells in it is the pack management. Milwaukee builds in REDLINK Intelligence, which is their communication and protection system between tool, battery, and charger. In practical terms, that helps the pack manage overload situations and helps protect both the battery and the tool when you lean on them hard. There is also discharge protection and individual cell monitoring to help protect cell health over time.

The pack includes an onboard fuel gauge, which is one of those features you start depending on once you have it. Instead of guessing whether you can finish the next run of fasteners or one more cut, you can check the remaining charge before you climb, set up, or drag extension gear around a room. That saves time and keeps your workflow cleaner.

Milwaukee also calls out all-weather performance and operation in climates below 0F / -18C. For anyone working outdoors, in unheated spaces, or loading tools in and out of a truck in winter, that matters. The battery is also designed to route water away from electronics, minimize heat, and resist jobsite damage from vibration or drops. That is the kind of engineering that pays off over months and years, not just on day one.

Charging time is straightforward and worth knowing before you buy. A full charge takes about 105 minutes on a standard charger, or 60 minutes on a rapid charger or super charger. If this is a spare battery for lighter use, the standard charger is fine. If you cycle batteries all day, pairing this pack with a faster charger makes a noticeable difference in how many tools you can keep moving.

Compatibility is a big reason this battery stays popular. It is built for the Milwaukee M18 battery system and powers a wide range of M18 cordless tools. If you are already on M18, this is an easy, low-risk add to the lineup. If you are just getting started, it is one of the most useful battery sizes because it balances runtime, weight, and pack size better than bulkier options for general-purpose use.

Who should buy it? Contractors, maintenance crews, electricians, plumbers, remodelers, and serious DIY users who want a dependable everyday M18 battery. The Milwaukee M18 REDLITHIUM XC5.0 Extended Capacity Battery Pack makes the most sense for users who want better runtime than compact packs, but do not necessarily need the extra size and weight of Milwaukee's largest battery options.
